Description

The X-540 speakers use FDD2 (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology to produce a uniform soundfield anywhere in the room. Immerse yourself in the game using the selectable matrix mode, which automatically creates 5.1 surround sound from common 2-channel stereo sources. The compact satellites are wall-mountable, and a special clip lets you place the center channel speaker on top of most flat-panel monitors to reduce desktop clutter. Use the wired control center to control volume and bass levels or connect headphones to enjoy your games and music privately.

Awesome SounD

by Keith Watkins from Austin, TX United States on 2010-08-30
Its got amazing sound, it's loud and just a great product.. I own a lot of logitech products and this is my favorite one.. the only issue i have is when i use this with my macbook pro, i only get sound out of the rear speakers or the front's depending which chord i have plugged in to my headphone jack.. I tried matrix mode and it no sound comes out, so i need to investigate my setup a bit more to see if i can at least get sound out of all my speakers rather then just the two and the sub.. Regardless, this sounds incredible... Buy this if you want good, no i meant GREAT sounding speakers hooked up to your computer or other system u may use..

Very nice for the price!

by Dragon Fire from on 2010-08-23
Great speaker setup for under $200.00... oh wait ... it's under $100.00! Logitech has put together a nice 5.1 package, tight thumping bass, good mids and just Ok highs. Easy to plug in color coded wires that are long enough for almost every application make for an easy hookup. Speakers are small enough and can be rotated from their bases somewhat, the speakers can also be wall mounted if need be. Well packaged with decent instructions make for a quick install. OK..enough cheerleading, now the bad stuff you wanna know... The volume and power controller is a separate wired unit about 3"x4"x1" that has the shortest wire of the system, it's about 5 feet and that's hard wired from the subwoofer...so if you plan to tuck the subwoofer somewhere be forewarned. Next bad thing ( sort of ) is some of the music you now have will sound worse, the reason for that is the Logitech X-540 system reproduces sounds accurately, so great quality music sounds great and poor quality music sounds,,, well... pretty bad. Kinda like HD for the ears. I recommend finding a clear 5.1 DTS music file, it will be hard to go back to stereo again. What have we learned? the Logitech X-540 is a great value, not perfect, perfect costs about $1000.00.

Works Great With My PS3 :)

by M. Chong from on 2010-08-19
Great! I am very pleased with this product... and the price cant be beat! I have it hooked to my PS3 and it is AWESOME! I basically live in a Matson container made into a house so when that sub gets slammin' my whole damn room starts shaking! Also i heard some people say they did not like the "Matrix" system but holy crap i LOVE IT! i pretty much keep it on all the time unless im watching something that supportes a true surround soundBUY IT!

Great Value

by Satisfied from on 2010-08-15
I purchased this speaker set for my PC a few months ago. Setup was quick and easy, everything is color coded and intuitive. Before I purchased this set, I read a few reviews that stated the rear speaker wires were too short. I am using this set in a 12X12 room, and the wires were long enough to reach the far back right and left corners of the room, but just barely. Quality and performance seem very high so far, although the set is not extremely loud. When watching dvd's I often have the system at 80% volume. Having said that, 5.1 surround for under $100 is amazing, and I am very satisfied with this set.

Best buy for Value

by CollegeKid from on 2010-09-06
Best buy for the dollar. If your looking for a 5.1 system for your computer that sounds good for a good price this is it. If you love bass than you will love this system, however of you don't like heavy bass you'll also like it because you have full control over the sub from the control pod. Features are pretty good you can connect multiple devices and its quick and easy to change between them with the remote. Mounting the speakers on the wall is pretty easy but they only pivot 1 way so it may be hard to get the speaker the direction you want it. Overall the speakers sound great and look good. Best Bang for the Buck.

Kinda disappointed after saving up for 3 years to buy this

by Scott from NJ on 2010-09-03
Ohhh Man...... i've been saving up for 3 years on this system and i'm kinda disappointed. I upgraded from my old Creative Labs Inspire 5200 with the additional Dolby digital converter box (speakers were analog and didn't have optical connectors). I had that sound system perfectly adjusted because it let me configure it very well. This Logitech system only gives you 4 choices of effects: Stereo, Stereo x2, Dolby PLII Movie and Dolby PLII Music. You can adjust the volume of the subwoofer, center and surround but you cannot adjust Treble, bass or mid-tones. WHAT? for 300 bucks you can't adjust anything? The speakers are a little on the big side and don't fit well on a small desk. The subwoofer is CRAZY BIG, I don't see why it has to be so huge. Its bigger than my TV surround system. The control box is also a bit big for what it needs to be too. It has a tilt on it that you cannot adjust so its designed to look down on not have it on a shelf cause it points up slightly. Also the lcd screen looks too dim (another thing that cannot be adjusted).Because you cannot tinker with the sound settings you are stuck with the presets and or what the dvd has on it. On the plus side this system is LOUD and i mean LOUD. There is serious power behind it and I think that is what this is really made for. I don't recommend it for a computer if all you listen to is music. If you are a gamer and watch dvds/movies then yes, this will be good for you. For me, I listen mostly to my music and it falls short because of the limited settings/adjustments.

Wow! Am I in a Theatre or what?

I originally purchased this system for use with my computer for gaming and iTunes... I loved it so much I went out and bought another system for my HD TV setup. I couldn't be happier!

Z5500

by Logan from on 2010-09-01
Great desktop speakers. Perfect for gaming, above satisfactory for music. If you're looking for just music speakers then there may be a better set out there for around the same price. The subwoofer is definitely loud, but for music I've heard a better sounding woofer before.

AMAZING SOUND!!

by Cory from on 2010-08-31
I bought this system for a gaming racing chair setup and connected it to a Playstation 3 using a digital optical cable. When I first setup my game chair, steering wheel/pedals, TV and Playstation 3 to test everything, I only used the TV speakers (not very good). My gaming race chair setup came to life once I installed the Z-5500!! This system is better than my $1000+ Sony Home Theater system.

Above satisfied with this home theater system

by Greingo from on 2010-08-28
I love these speakers. My favorite feature is the night mode where it tones down the sound where its loud enough for you, quiet enough for the next room over during the night hours.

not what I expected

Sony can do better than this, but for the price it's ok. Will spend a little extra next time, you get what you pay for. Overall not bad.

Worth every penny and then some

by S. Matos from CT USA on 2010-07-30
I shopped around for a long time before I settled on this system. I even went to Best Buy just for kicks to see what they recommended and they said I would need a system for $1,100 base...ha.This is exactly the system you need if you have several electronics (Xbox, Cable, Blu Ray) that use HDMI. You can plug them all into the system and if you have other Bravia or Sony equipment, all the pieces work together like legos. There is more than enough wire to set up the surround sound, and the sound quality is really superb.

Very good system

by Sandra from on 2010-07-25
This is a great system for the price. The sound quality is wonderful. I would recommend following the audio set up instructions. It makes a big difference. The only downside is that there is sometimes a lag when you switch between channels (i.e. Blu-Ray player to Cable), but other than that, this system is a greay buy.

Few years ago I bought a used creative Sound Blaster Live! PCI sound card for my desktop for the price of 8 dollars because my computer's built in sound card was awful since then I never thought of any other sound cards other than creative. The mic can catch your voice 20 yards away from it and the voice it records is crystal clear. Creative rules. The installation is easy just need to go to the creative website driver's page and select your operating system and download all the software available for your Operating System and enjoy the vision of sound. My laptop's operating system is Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. Thanks creative for making great sound cards.

Good sound card

by Naveed Zanoon from Colombo, Sri Lanka on 2010-07-09
I bought this a couple of months ago, and so far it has been performing without an issue. I have it hooked up onto a Z5500 Logitech system and I must say the sound quality is awesome.

Great if you scrap the software

by Jaws from Phoenix, AZ on 2010-06-20
Pros: Soundcard is fantastic Cons: Software is dog bleep.I just plugged this into the USB and it worked like a charm. I have a Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit computer hooked through my home theater and a 42 inch Vizio and it sounds better than a movie theater. When you initially install the soundcard, just let it go out and find the Microsoft drivers and you'll be good. The initial mistake I made was downloading the software that came with this. After I did, there was a serious delay between the video and audio, which was due to adding the creative drivers (which are crap!) I also had computer issues which I later discovered were due to drivers. I also had an issue with my restore point so I had to uninstall all the crap from the CD-ROM and the updates from the Creative website. I did keep PowerDVD 9 though, it works very well for watching movies. Bottom Line: keep the hardware, lose the software.

Lots of Clipping, Terrible Quality Sound

by N. Hale from on 2010-06-01
After the 3.5mm input ripped right out of my computer, I decided it was time for a new soundcard. After some brief, albeit hurried shopping, I ended up purchasing this product. At first I was excited about the ease of use! I mean, come on, USB connectivity, plug and play features, optional software, and of course, the excellence of an analog volume dial.Very cool. Right?WRONG!After three hours of updating software and configuring the card to my computer, I realized that I had dropped signal quality, even though the card is rated at 24-Bit 96000KHZ plus. Not only had I lost audio clarity, but I now had a really bad case of clipping. I mean, any excessive noise, and I would hear distortion, feedback or signal clipping. This simply would not do considering I needed this sound card for audio recording. My guess is that it makes a great addition to any laptop, or lower-end home desktop. It's functionality as a recording sound card is crappy at best. The fact that it is powered by USB would indicate that indefinitely some signal quality will be lost, so be ready for that.pros: -plug and play connectivity -software not necessary(but certainly recommended) -analog volume dial -5.1 surround -ASIO drivers supported -24 bit processing -comes with some neat programs(sort of)cons: -software installation and update takes forever -usb powered, resulting in signal degeneration -audio clipping and interference -not recommended for audio recording -not recommended for high quality audio processing -the crystalizer and 3-D sound capabitlies are questionable at bestUltimately I had to return it because I recieved a distinct decrease in playback and recording quality. Although it processed music and computer sounds well enough, any sound card should (seeing as that's what they are engineered to do). My recommendation, great for laptops with crappy onboard sound but not for home or studio use!

It stop working after a year

Description

The ZVOX 325 is the perfect choice for someone who wants to add terrific sound to a television – without the complication and expense of a 5.1 surround sound system. It delivers remarkably accurate, wide-range sound from a single compact cabinet; with only one connecting wire….and a one-page owner’s manual. The 325 was created by legendary speaker designer Winslow Burhoe (founder of EPI Loudspeakers and Burhoe Acoustics). Frankly, we are amazed at how good the 325 sounds. It is simply delightful. Female vocalists sound warm, rich and natural. Music is reproduced with true high fidelity. Live concerts sound big and airy and awesome. Movie soundtracks are delivered with startling realism - including punchy, accurate bass. Even sporting events take on a new dimension with the 325 – you’ll hear details you’ve never heard before. And all sound is reproduced with a sense of distortion-free ease. Never before has an audio system offered this combination of high performance, small size, simplicity and affordability. Just hook up its single connecting wire and you will transform your TV into a terrific home theater system...but without all the wires and boxes. "The 325 sounded great. An awesome system." - Sound & Vision magazine "Inspires sincere gadget lust...surprisingly good surround sound." - PC World "Superior to most we've tested." - CNET "Remarkable. We're amazed." - Maximum PC magazine "Great sound." - About.com

Features

  • ZVOX's best-seller. Critics compare it to far more expensive, more complicated systems
  • Requires only one connecting cord.
  • PhaseCue virtual surround system to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music.
  • MDF (medium density fiberboard) speaker cabinet, the same material uses in most high-end loudspeakers.

Great Little System

by Donna J. Bruton from texas on 2010-09-03
I installed the box about 3 days ago. It was very easy to install and we love it. My husband has a slight hearing problem and this has really helped him. You don't even have to turn up real loud to get all the background voices and the sound is very crisp and clear. Highly recommend this system to someone that does not want wires and boxes all over your listening and viewing area. I have not been able to get my MP3 player to work thru the system yet but evidently I am doing something wrong and will figure it out.

OK but not much different than TV speakers, Returned.

by Steve Kamerick from Bigfork, Montana on 2010-07-10
I am not very impressed with the sound quality of this speaker system. It is built very well and has a small foot print being an all-in-one speaker box. If sound enhancement is the goal, without spending a lot of money, which is my choice, this system falls short of achieving that mark. If this system had some way to adjust the EQ or shape of the final audio, it would be of higher value and usefulness. As it is, the only adjustment is for the sub woofer, which is ok.For $400.00 there are many 2.1 and 5.1 systems available, even with DVD or Blueray that are much better. I bought a used, Like New, ZVOX 325 system for $200.00 from Amazon, but didn't think it was worth what I paid, so I returned it.Sorry ZVOX, but give us more final EQ audio mix capabilities, and put the knobs on the front, not on the rear. Then you will have a useful sound system in the $200.00 range, not the $400.00 range. Hope this is useful to someone.

Clears up the sound

by pen name from on 2010-07-08
Purchased this at recommendation of a friend who is really into sound quality. For us, its purpose was solely to clear up the muffled sound, and especially muffled voices from our TV, which is located in a cabinet. Didn't expect it to be surround sound, but it really made a difference for our aging ears. Now we don't have to turn up the volume just to understand the dialogue.

Great Product, Great Company!

by Laughing Gravy from Rowlett,Texas on 2010-06-21
When I got my new TV and realized it had no rca outputs for audio and my ZVOX 325 was already on the way I panicked! I emailed ZVOX and Fred replied quickly with a couple of solutions on how to hook it up. It ended up that it was easier than I thought and the thing SOUNDS GREAT!! As ZVOX admits, it's going to simulate surround sound as there are no actual speakers behind you, but you really feel like you're in a theater-it has that same sound quality. My wife and I love this thing. There isn't a product on the market that is easier to use or hook up. And more importantly, there are real people you can contact for info and help. I've done loads of business with other companies that have poor or NO customer service. I was waiting for a refund from one that just went out of business, so now I have no product AND no refund. ZVOX ships for free and has a money back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose. If want a great sounding system that's easy to hook up, isn't made of plastic, and comes from a company that cares, buy a ZVOX!

Good for an office or second TV

by LA_Biz_Guy from on 2010-08-31
Flat screen TV in a relatively small room. I had an older iLive sound bar that I found to be somewhat frustrating to sound variations and quality. Purchased this bar based on an older review in national magazine and price. When I replaced the older bar with the new one I had a far more attractive unit, but really not that much change in sound quality (though treble was more responsive). Eventually put back in the older iLive and found an old subwoofer to attach to deepen the sound range. As noted by others, this is smaller than the photo would lead you to believe. It has some fairly funky screw-in peg legs for getting it above a surface for better sound quality, but I could not tell the difference with or without. Overall quality of sound is good and you can adjust the basic Treble/Bass balance to effect, but the range of low volume to high is very narrow. There is no means of plugging in a subwoofer or additional speakers (have some extras from dead computers) which would have corrected a number of sound issues.Overall, even at the reduced price, didn't get the value I would of hoped for.

Sharp HTSB200 is a great value

by Daryl C. Benner from on 2010-08-28
I read a lot of the write ups on the product before I decided to purchase it. I am not disappointed. It is a great product for the price. It is certainly not a surround sound / theater sound system, but I have 52 inch Sharp LCD TV, and the TV speakers are poor at best.. These speakers really enhance the sound from the TV.. I would recommend them to anyone that simply wants to have better speakers for their TV..

Sharp HTSB200 Soundbar with 46" Sharp Aquos LCD

by Jimmy Li from San Antonio, TX, US on 2010-07-30
Good soundbar. Build quality is par with the TV. This is great for use in small/medium sized room. I simply unpacked it and placed the soundbar on the tv stand. The bar rests right below the sensors and IR window. Is it worth the price? Yes. If you have a Sharp TV its a bonus and works and looks perfect. My only gripe and that is why I give the unit 4 stars is because there is no way I can find to use my Direct TV remote in place of the soundbar remote.

Great Sound Bar

by 3D from on 2010-07-20
I live in an apartment with a TV rear speaker that blasts neigbors. Needed a sound bar that puts the sound out the front. This sound bar does the job and more. It has a very good remote and four butons to control different levels of sound. This allows me to reduce the high pitch of commercials. It also has a mute button. The bar came with everything you need to set it up, RCA plugs, little feet to lift it up over the TV base and a battery for the remote. I am pleased with the purchase.

beats the stock speakers hands down

by Pierre M. Bessette from Hampden MA on 2010-07-12
I bought this because my speakers in my TV were buzzing horribly and didn't want to have to repair it. Put this in and hooked it up to the rca connections...sounds great, I almost don't need to use my surround sound (almost)I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a little more than plain TV audio..

Description

The Mini uses all the same technology as larger ZVOX systems – but with smaller speakers and a smaller cabinet. The result is a single-cabinet surround sound system capable of producing big, accurate, room-filling sound – despite the fact that it’s about the size of a cigar box. The Mini is perfect for people who don’t have the space for a bigger system, or for people who need something transportable. The Mini won’t play as loudly as the ZVOX 325 or the ZVOX 315. And its bass output doesn’t have as much volume and punch. But don’t be fooled. The Mini is a serious audio system for serious music and movie lovers. It uses the ZVOX PhaseCue virtual surround system to create big, enveloping sound. It has a built-in powered subwoofer for accurate, musical bass. The critics love the ZVOX Mini. You will be amazed at how something so tiny can sound so big. Music is rich and clear, with none of the tinny sound that most small systems produce. Movies will sound far more theater-like with the Mini than with your TV’s built-in speakers, with immersive surround effects, clear dialog and tight, clean bass. Small, simple and affordable, the ZVOX Mini will transform your TV into a home theater system...but it won't fill your room with boxes and wires."Creates a sonic dance." - The New York Times "The sound is enormous." -PC World "Outstanding sound quality." - Home Theater magazine "The Mini is a sonic force." - Chicago Tribune

Features

  • One of world's smallest surround sound systems -- only 13-Inch wide
  • Plug-and-play -- requires only one connecting cord.
  • PhaseCue virtual surround system to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music.
  • Built-in powered subwoofer delivers rich, natural bass response to 63 Hz.
  • "The ZVOX Mini proves good sound can come in a small package."

Great sound for a very small unit

Just purchased this directly from the manufacturer to replace a system that cost twice the money, and this sounds twice as good. It's almost too easy to set up. This works very well for any price, and it's a great alterntive to HTIB.

I LOVE THIS THING!!

by Amazon_Scout from Utah, USA on 2010-07-20
Huge sound in a small package, it is absolutely perfect. It takes minutes to set up and hours if not days to get over how awesome it is, I'm still not over it. If you're looking for home theater quality sound with a reasonable price tag you have to order this unit. You will not be disappointed!

OK For a Small Room

by Mark M Ford from Coatesville, PA, US on 2010-06-26
Using it in a small bedroom. While it isn't a mind blowing experience, to say the least, it is definitely a significant improvement over the built in tv speakers. I think, for what it is, it is overpriced. Probably should be more in the $100 category. I feel like $200 should have delivered a finer audio experience. If you don't mind spending the money and you're looking for a very compact system to upgrade from your built ins, I wouldn't say it is a disappointment.

Zyvox-Mini

by P. M. Priddy from on 2010-05-27
I got the Zyvox Mini Ultra Compact as a replacement for another sound bar that quit working. It was easy to set up and installed it in less than 10 min. after taking it out of the box. The sound is rich and full for our bedroom. It has fullfilled it's purpose as the main sound source for my Samsung 36" TV.

Location of unit is an important factor

by Closer from Alexandria, VA United States on 2010-05-07
I got the ZVOX Mini to go with my 52" Samsung LCD TV. I had the idea that it would be nice to have something compact to fit on a shelf of the unit my TV sits on, which this did just fine. I have never valued overwhelming theater-volume sound, and have often found that friends' home theater setups were far too loud and base-heavy for my taste. But I did want high-quality sound that would be an improvement over the TV's built-in speakers. The ZVOX Mini was easy to hook up, and the sound is pretty good. But it is indeed a "mini", and the sound was a bit short of what I had been hoping for in terms of volume and depth. More important, my setup required me to locate the Mini off-center, below and to the right of the TV. The sound, as a consequence, seemed to come from the "wrong place", rather than seeming to simply come naturally from the actors on the screen. Ideally you don't even think about the location of the sound, it's just "there". I could not configure this unit to achieve that.It seems like a minor objection, but truly I could not adjust to the off-centeredness of the sound, and there was no way given how I have my TV and room set up that I could locate the unit directly under or above the TV to eliminate it. I instead returned the Mini and bought a Samsung soundbar with a separate subwoofer for about the same price, and was able to locate the soundbar directly in front of the TV. It's a significant improvement. The Mini produces good sound for what it is, and it would make a nice desktop stereo, say, but with my setup it just wasn't the right solution.

Great Home Theater

by Mr. Patricio Galindo from Nancy, FR on 2010-03-04
This is a nice system, nicely built, doesn't look cheap and the sound is good (not excellent). The greatest downside is the lack of HDMI which takes away a significant part of the appealing. Having said this I am happy with it because I mostly got it to plug in my iphone 3G and put some music for which it works perfectly.

Efficient and affordable

Horrible! Does terrible with darks

by Michael Yakutis from San Jose, CA on 2009-08-31
There are only three good things I can say about this system. 1: It has great base, 2: It has been pretty reliable, and 3: It is usually well priced. That's about it.However, the picture on this unit sucks! It does OK with regular, normally lit scenes. However, if you're watching something that has a dark scene in it, the player automatically adjusts itself and dims WAY down to the point where you can barely see the image! Don't even try watching The Dark Knight or Watchmen on this thing. You'll just be pissed off the whole time. The only way to get around this feature, from what I can tell, is to brighten the screen to the point where almost everything has a blue tint to it because it's brighter than it should be and too over-adjusted. The player is very slow to load and slow to eject. Because it has such strong base, it overpowers the dialogue. I have to adjust the sound on almost everything I watch (and sound adjustment is very limited on this unit). Diagonal lines have recently appeared on the screen. I have sent the unit out for repairs through the retailer (I had an extended warranty) but I doubt they'll take care of most of these issues.PASS ON THIS P.O.S.!!

It is what it is, and it's great

by Samir R from on 2009-07-31
- I bought it as a sound system. It's great, it has 5 speakers and a sub-woofer. - It's not very responsive when you ask it to do things, but it's no big deal. - USB port on the front, I play music off of a USB flash drive.

great sound

Simple to set up and a simply wonderful sound. I couldn't be happier because I did it myself.

Best Buy

by Rob from on 2010-08-29
I didn't expect much from a $56 set of speakers... just needed to replace my 2.1 sound and figured i'd try a 5.1 set. I am amazed at the quality and sound it produces. here are my pro's and con'sPros: -inexpensive -plenty of power -3 channels two RCA in rear and a headphone jack in front for ipod -independent mute and volume control for Front, Center, Rear, and Sub -Regular speaker wire inputs in rear of sub, so you can use different speakers eventually. -easy set up -remote control -decent sound for the price rangeCons: -no areas to attach mounts to speakers, have to drill into them. -no independent control for each speaker. front two are together and rear two are together. -limited sub control(had to rearrange the equalizer on our tv to get more out of it) -speaker wire could be longer but I just ordered more to extend it.overall probably should be paying closer to $100 for this set and at $56 it's a dealNot the best but great for the money I rate it my best buy so far of 2010

Nice sound from a little box.

by Flknr.W from California on 2010-08-23
I purchased this system in anticipation that it would be an improvement over the TV speakers. I was pleasantly surprised. As other reviewers have indicated, if you are looking for a true surround system, this is not the home theatre system for you. I have the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX500 Theater System for the living room and would not expect the same sound from the RCA system. However I do find the rear speakers to be somewhat inadequate but I find it to be a minor flaw. I am happy with this purchase, it does what I wanted it to do. If you're looking to add some depth to your TV speakers, I highly recommend this system. For true surround it may cost you more.

Great system for a great price!

by Jenni from Bennington, VT on 2010-08-22
I purchased this awhile back for my new Viore flatscreen TV on a serious budget. After hunting around EVERYWHERE I landed on this one and gave it a shot. Keep in mind, I'm using this in my bedroom and haven't used it outside of that but the quality is great! I hooked it up with an optional input cable through my Xbox360 and couldn't have asked for more! I have the speakers set up around my bed and on the table in front of it and it's perfect for what I was looking for. I'm not a tech guru but my boyfriend helped me put everything together and he's planning on getting one for his bedroom. It's not the killer, magnificent sound you will get with macho speakers but it's great for a secondary room or if you want the pleasure of surround sound without killing your decor. I've watched movies, animes, and played video games on it and so far it has done nothing but please! I have found that you need to adjust the sound according to what you're playing but from my experience with any kind of speaker is that's normal. It doesn't reset to baseline volume at least from what I can tell. My siblings and I watched the entire Inuyasha anime on it (160+ episodes) and each time we booted it up and popped it in, the sound was set the way I had left it the night before. (Once again, not a tech junkie! XD)I definitely recommend this for both it's great price and great quality! This little system seriously delivers and I'm very happy with the choice I made for my new system!

Totally surpassed my expectations. Great system for apartment dwellers.

by B. Arnold from on 2010-08-13
I live in a one bedroom apartment and this system is as powerful as I'll ever need. I gambled on it because of the price, figuring it would probably suck, but hoping it would at least be a little better than my TV sound. I was wrong. It doesn't suck at all. It's actually pretty awesome. In fact it sounds almost as good as my ex-roommate's surround system which cost a couple hundred dollars more.I was a little worried when I opened the box and saw how tiny all the speakers were, but they produce very big sound for their size. Anyone who wants thundering bass that will rattle the walls should definitely look elsewhere but if you are living in an apartment, this unit should be more than sufficient for your needs. It sounds absolutely great for what it is - a budget priced surround system.I don't understand the people who have mentioned needing to augment these speakers with their TV sound. I think that they must have the speakers hooked up wrong or have the individual channels (front, center, sub-woofer and rear) turned down, so the master volume isn't giving them what they need. I can only turn the volume up about half-way before I start to worry about my neighbors, so I'm clearly getting something different out of my set-up. I don't think I'm just being overly courteous either - at full volume, with the doors closed, the system can be heard fairly easily from the courtyard/hallway outside of my apartment. With the standard settings, the rear channel is a little quiet for my taste, but since there is individual control for the different channels, it is very easy to adjust. The biggest problem with the system is that there are only two composite inputs and one front facing "line-in" portable audio input. That means no HDMI, component or IR inputs and if you want to hook up more than two devices, you're going to need a separate switcher. The higher end inputs are not a big deal for me. I have already stated that I live in an apartment and must be courteous with my volume. HDMI, component, or IR would allow for much better fidelity with a system that really cranks, but with my personal needs in mind, the two composite inputs are just fine. Besides, how much do you expect for $56?In summary; This system is amazing for the price. Perfect for apartments, dens, etc. There are some limitations and it may not be the right system for you if you are living in a big house, but it definitely exceeded what I expected to get from it. + Price. Can't be beat. + Compact size - perfect for an apartment + Good sound and pretty loud for such a compact system - again, perfect for small to mid-sized apartments. + Remote with individual channel controls. This is very handy and not available in the other units I saw in this price range. + Audio device port is a nice bonus- Bass is less than thunderous - Limited inputs - Probably not appropriate for large rooms in large houses
