Woofers How can improve the sound quality speaker

Do you know what a subwoofer? They are part of the audio system that produce sounds frequency. You can `t experience a crystal clear sound and deep bass without sub-woofers installed with your main audio system. A subwoofer comes with a cross on the filter. The function of this filter is to filter out high frequency sound. Subwooofers base can improve the sound produced by audio or video system.

If you are planning to buy subwoofers for your home or car then there are some things that should be considered. One must decide the power of the subwoofer you want. The need for power depends area of the room. Energy consumption increases with the area of the room.

What is the operating principle to the subwoofer? Subwoofers come with single or double cone. A cone is responsible for producing low frequency sounds. These cones can be mounted in two different ways. The first is called the wood and the second is soaring ahead. But it is a matter of design and sound quality changes

The next thing you have to decide is the type of enclosure. An enclosure cover speaker and subwoofer. The case design can greatly affect the output of your audio system. There are two main types of boxes. The first one is called acoustic suspension and another is the base reflects. suspension cabinets can give a great sound, but can `t work without a powerful amplifier. Base don `t reflect premises need much power but the sound is not as accurate.

Before buying a speaker or a subwoofer you should discuss your expectations with an expert. An expert can help a lot in purchase of an audio system according to your needs and budget.

Excellent Value -- How did they do it?

by J. Saginario from CT on 2010-09-05
I don't know how they could sell these for less than $30. They sound as good as the $160 set of Polk audio speakers I once had. The 2 satellites provide good high and mid-range performance, and the small subwoofer packs more punch than I could have imagined. And I love the small footprint of the entire thing! All around a great buy. A!

Poor Quality

by Frederick Dahlke from Towson, MD United States on 2010-09-04
Don't buy it. Poor quality. Hooked it up, and one satellite didn't even work. Volume spin dial that sits on the desk is wobbly and will break with continued use.

Tiny but mighty

by Cowgirl Skiry from San Diego, CA on 2010-09-03
I owned a pair of Logitech speakers in the past and they broke on me. I swore I never would get another pair, however, a friend convinced me to try these. If they didn't work, I was only out about $30, but he assured me I would be more than happy with them.WOW! I'm surprised. When I saw the box from Amazon, I was a little worried because they were so small. I love the sound quality on these. I used them both with music and my blurays. I'm impressed that they pack so much power in such a tiny package. There's also the remote that's attached to it that has the headphone and microphone jack. The only thing I... dislike (which it isn't a huge issue to me) is that I can't put the subwoofer on the desk with the speakers and my monitor. The cord isn't long enough so it has to stay underneath my desk with the computer tower. Overall, I love it and love the sound it produces. Its definitely worth the money.

Nice inexpensive speakers if you can tolerate the humming noise

by Ella J. from on 2010-09-01
I enjoyed these speakers for about a week before noticing a loud, distracting humming noise emanating from the subwoofer. This happened with the power turned off, so the only way to avoid the hum was to unplug the speakers. I've tried plugging the speakers into three different outlets, repositioning the subwoofer in numerous ways, playing with the cables...nothing has worked. I was thinking of exchanging them for a different pair of Logitech speakers, but quality seems to be very hit or miss with this brand if reviews for other models on Amazon are any indication.

Great sound for the price!

by Uri from on 2010-09-01
My old 2.1 speakers that i bought from target were blown out so i looked online for even better speakers. The old ones i bought cost me $30.00 and weren't working too well it only lasted me about 3 months. Figuring these speakers were a bit cheaper i decided to buy these ones and couldn't be happier with my purchase. They worked really well for the low price that amazon gives you. I highly suggest people purchase these speaker. I enjoyed using them when i worked out and my friends and i love them when were just kicking back and relaxing. If you are on a budget or even looking for a gift for a loved one or a friend, I highly recommend these speakers!

A cone-shaped aluminum Phase Plug at the center of the driver helps to accurately reproduce high- and mid-range frequencies with less coloration than standard drivers. And because the Phase Plug acts as a heat sink, the driver is better able to preserve dynamic range. So you hear the quiet of a whisper and the loud, full force of an explosion. The Phase Plug even acts as a reflector, creating a much wider sweet spot of mid to high frequencies compared to conventional speaker designs. The bottom line? The true sonic signature of your movies, music and games comes through loud and clear. Long-throw subwoofer for rich, room-filling bass Intensify your movie, music and gaming experience with distortion-free bass that goes extra deep. The powerful 8-inch, 120 watt driver reproduces the wide range of low frequencies that deliver room-shaking rumbles and rich, tight bass notes. An outstanding value

by exscribe from san francisco, ca usa on 2010-09-05
I was persuaded to buy the Z-2300 by the knowledgeable reviews on this site. All I can offer is confirmation that they are accurate. This sucker puts out great sound! I have listened to some inexpensive systems where the bass seems artificially loud and annoying because it dominates the rest of the music. This baa is solid but not overwhelming. And for such small speakers the sound is pure. The subwoofer puts out more power than you will need without any distortion. As mentioned in another review, the subwoofer is relatively large and quite heavy. Plan to put it on the floor. Also, one additional word of caution: the speaker wire comes heavily wrapped in plastic. Be very careful cutting it off or you might cut right through the wire, which is exactly what I did.

Simply AMAZING

by Chris from on 2010-09-05
These are simply the best speakers I've ever heard or used. I also have the soundsticks two, they might look nice but the logitech z-2300 blow them out of the water. The bass on the logitech z-2300 is tremendous. I bought these for my dorm room and the bass can be heard at least 3-5 rooms down the hall and I only keep the bass and volume on 50%. Overall I highly recommend getting these speakers. They will be one of the best investments you ever make.

Great buy

by smokingsteve from on 2010-09-03
These speakers are amazing. The sound quality on the high end is very clear and the bass is extremely powerful. In fact I cannot listen to this speaker system at more than 25% power when I am sitting in front of the satellites. I would purchase this speaker system again in the future in a heartbeat.

These speakers are BANGING!!

by BassBanger from on 2010-09-03
These speakers are seriously hard hitting like no other 2.1 system ive ever heard before. The bass on these things can rock your room and any other rooms near yours. The sound quality on these things is incredible. The day I got them I hooked them up right away which was a breeze. The setup takes absolutely no time at all. The first thing I did was hook these bad boys up to my iTouch. The itouch itself has a terrible sound card and not so great equilizers which can effect the quality of your music. I adjusted mine to pop which sounds fantastic. I turned the bass on the remote up to about 3/4. And my ipod up just about all the way. I had the volume on the remote all the way down. I turned on the system and played a song with lots of bass I turned the system up to a little bit before half way and my dad came down stairs b/c he thought I was blaring his 5.1 system in the next room. He was so jealous of my system and the sound quality, my bass hits about 4 times harder than his and he paid about 700 dollars for his. Lets just say the sub on this thing is craaaazy! Now for the satellites, they are great for the highs and there lows arent too bad either the mids do lack a little. It seems as if they over powered the sub to make up for the lacking satellites. Anyway I highly recomend these speakers to anyone looking for some high quality banging power either on your computer ipod or xbox, there a great value. :D

Exactly what I needed

Works well enough

by J. S. Bollinger from Camp Hill, PA on 2010-08-30
I wasn't expecting the results of a $1000 unit and I wasn't disappointed. The only issue I have with the unit is that it connects via the headphone jack of my PC rather than the stereo speaker jacks.

Underwhelming

by MacGuyver from Stamford, CT on 2010-08-24
I purchased the Z523s as replacements for my aging Bose speakers. I was VERY disappointed by the sound quality: Bass is loud enough (but undefined), and the mids are just plain muddy. I was expecting more from Logitech based on my past experience with the brand, but audio is definitely NOT their forte. I'll search out a good equalizer box just to salvage these.

excellent set of speakers for music

by Charlie Fiskeaux II from on 2010-08-11
The Logitech Z523 is an incredible set of speakers for listening to music. I'm using them with a Dell desktop computer, and the bass is well supported with an excellent overall balance. These speakers also have a unique 360 degree sound feature, which is simply because the desktop speakers are two-sided, putting out sound to the front and back. So it doesn't matter which way they're turned, the sound doesn't get muffled. They're not too cheap, but not too expensive, either, so they're a good value for the money. If you're willing to spend a few bucks to get a set of speakers that's guaranteed to sound great, go for the Logitech Z523.

Great Speakers!!!

Better than expected

It sounds well and looks good for this price. Its volume control on a separate cord (not on the base unit) may be considered a disadvantage.

Works

by Josh Jeffords from on 2010-08-31
I am rather happy I got these plus a warranty for under $26 in AK "that is cheaper than the old egg shaped no Sub speaker everyone used to have in the 90s-2000s." these things are compact well designed and offer more sound than I need. "the Sub shakes my desk!" I use mine for gaming/video not a music expert so no opinion on that spec wise but sounds great to me. also pretty easy to set up, even on a cluttered desk. I recommend this to any non technocrat or audio elitist for entry level speaker. not good for laptop as not portable mostly for desktop.

CRAPPY WIRING!

by D. Suits from Los Angeles, Ca on 2010-08-31
I was completely fine with these speakers until the jack that connects the speakers to the bass woofer stopped working properly. The right speaker no longer works, UGH! You really DO get what you pay for with Logitech!

Really Cheap Sound

by Juanvic 5185 from on 2010-08-30
When I bought these speakers I thought they would rock my world, beacuse c'mon they're Logitech. Firstly I had a set of Altec Lansing's BXR1221 2.1 and they were ok but being the audiophile that I am, I still wanted more thumping on that bass. So went on and took back the Altec Lansings to Wallmart (taking advantage of their return policy) and got my money back. Since the Logitech LS21 are the same price as Altec Lansing BXR1221 I didnt loose any money. But WHAT A BIG MISTAKE!!!! The Altec Lansing were like ten times better and for the price forget about it go for the Altec Lansing. Then what I did is that I decided to spend just a buck more for another Logitech model (x140) and now I'm more than satisfied. Logitech LS21 sounded completly horrible. They sounded like if they were wrapped around with paper, my creative zen didn't even sounded and my zune also sounded very low. The max volume level went to as high as an old vintage radio's volume. The only thing that I liked was that you could control the bass level from the sub woofer but appart from that it's just crap. The satellites sounded with alot of bass, little to no high and none whatsoever any mid (figuratively speaking). If you're willing to spend from 20$-30$ for laptop speakers I highly recomend the Altec Lansing BXR1221 2.1 or Logitech x-140 that's it. DONT GO WITH THIS CRAP!

Logitech z323 Speaker System

by Severedlimbs from on 2010-09-01
These speakers are defiantly worth the money. They sound great. I appreciate the bass knob on the back of the sub, but I wish it was on one of the speakers for more ease of access, do to the fact that I listen to a lot of different types of music, I'm always turning that knob. I was very surprised to find out that as little as the bass head is It hits really hard, huge plus for me.The only gripe I have with them is that I have to change the bass volume a lot when I switch to a different kind of music, not that big of a deal though.

Look Elsewhere

by Johnny Utah from on 2010-08-28
I bought these speakers because they were cheap, but I should have listened to the negative reviews because the sound quality just isn't that great. There are really no highs and the lows aren't that great either. What you are left with is kind of a muddled middle sound. You have to turn the volume up pretty high to get any high frequency sounds, and at that point the sound quality starts to deteriorate. I had it hooked up to my Xbox and I could barely hear regular sounds like when you are scrolling through the menu. If I wanted to hear those sounds clearly, I had to really turn up the volume and that just made the overall noise level too high. Since I had it hooked up to my TV, there really wasn't any way to tweak settings to get the high end to show up more, but maybe if you are using these with a computer that won't be as big of an issue. I guess the bottom line is that the sound on these speakers wasn't "clean."There were certain features I liked with these speakers, though. I liked that they had an auxiliary input in the back and I liked the jack on the side of the speaker for headphones or iPod. The 360 degree sound, however, was a nonexistent feature.I upgraded to the Z523 and so far it seems like it was worth it. The design on the Z523 is also better. The speakers themselves look nicer and there is a bass control knob on the speaker so you don't have to go to the back of the sub. It also has the extra input in the back and the inputs on the speakers, plus a bigger sub.

Perfect system for [...] ([...] MIR) this can't be beat.

by John Ciriello from Dover, MA on 2010-08-25
I had the previous model of these speakers the X240 system, which was fantastic. I lent that system to a friend and needed a new system quickly so I bought these speakers from Amazon with my 2 Day prime shipping. The specs of the speakers said that the speakers would be as good or better as the x240 speakers... and they are. These deliver booming bass and crystal clear sound quality from the two desk speakers. It truly is unbelievable the sound that comes out of this little package. The desk speakers do have it seems two drivers (one in front and one in back) on each speaker. Each Speaker also is ported. If you can still get this system for [...] after the MIR then this is the best deal imaginable, if you can get it for the [...] it normally is, then you are still getting a great deal since these speakers are so good.

Excellent PC speakers

by HiroNotHero from on 2010-08-12
Logitec is a brand I trust and have been using for many years now, especially their PC speakers. I have been using this 3-piece speakers set for a month now. Very crisp and clear sound output from the 2 satellite speakers and deep, booming bass from the subwoofer. No sound distortions whatsoever with these. You get the nice full surround sound with these speakers, similar to that in movie theaters and with home theater systems for TVs. For under 50 dollars, you really can't go wrong with this these.

Awesome SounD

Its got amazing sound, it's loud and just a great product.. I own a lot of logitech products and this is my favorite one.. the only issue i have is when i use this with my macbook pro, i only get sound out of the rear speakers or the front's depending which chord i have plugged in to my headphone jack.. I tried matrix mode and it no sound comes out, so i need to investigate my setup a bit more to see if i can at least get sound out of all my speakers rather then just the two and the sub.. Regardless, this sounds incredible... Buy this if you want good, no i meant GREAT sounding speakers hooked up to your computer or other system u may use..

Very nice for the price!

by Dragon Fire from on 2010-08-23
Great speaker setup for under $200.00... oh wait ... it's under $100.00! Logitech has put together a nice 5.1 package, tight thumping bass, good mids and just Ok highs. Easy to plug in color coded wires that are long enough for almost every application make for an easy hookup. Speakers are small enough and can be rotated from their bases somewhat, the speakers can also be wall mounted if need be. Well packaged with decent instructions make for a quick install. OK..enough cheerleading, now the bad stuff you wanna know... The volume and power controller is a separate wired unit about 3"x4"x1" that has the shortest wire of the system, it's about 5 feet and that's hard wired from the subwoofer...so if you plan to tuck the subwoofer somewhere be forewarned. Next bad thing ( sort of ) is some of the music you now have will sound worse, the reason for that is the Logitech X-540 system reproduces sounds accurately, so great quality music sounds great and poor quality music sounds,,, well... pretty bad. Kinda like HD for the ears. I recommend finding a clear 5.1 DTS music file, it will be hard to go back to stereo again. What have we learned? the Logitech X-540 is a great value, not perfect, perfect costs about $1000.00.

Works Great With My PS3 :)

Great! I am very pleased with this product... and the price cant be beat! I have it hooked to my PS3 and it is AWESOME! I basically live in a Matson container made into a house so when that sub gets slammin' my whole damn room starts shaking! Also i heard some people say they did not like the "Matrix" system but holy crap i LOVE IT! i pretty much keep it on all the time unless im watching something that supportes a true surround soundBUY IT!

Great Value

by Satisfied from on 2010-08-15
I purchased this speaker set for my PC a few months ago. Setup was quick and easy, everything is color coded and intuitive. Before I purchased this set, I read a few reviews that stated the rear speaker wires were too short. I am using this set in a 12X12 room, and the wires were long enough to reach the far back right and left corners of the room, but just barely. Quality and performance seem very high so far, although the set is not extremely loud. When watching dvd's I often have the system at 80% volume. Having said that, 5.1 surround for under $100 is amazing, and I am very satisfied with this set.

Love my Color Changing Music Box!!

by Isalina from on 2010-09-03
I love this little thing! it's a perfect size to have on my desk and the sound quality and volume is impressive. I love the subtle handles that make for easy lifting, too. I'm still so fascinated by the brightness of the colors and the speed options as well as the "color pause" which lets you stay on a color you particularly like. It's one of my favorite things in my room.

Hot Little Beat Box!

by Eurogothic Mama from Des Moines, IA USA on 2010-08-12
I ordered this Ipod player to take with me to the hospital during the delivery of my second child. I wanted something that could set a mood, while playing the music of my choice. I have to confess, this docking station rocks! First of all, we can all agree that it is esthetically quite attractive. With its funky box shape, it manages to add a bit of modern appeal while adding a youthful element in its color changing, mood light feature. The size is perfect and highly portable and the sound quality is very impressive. The colors are definitely noticable, but subtle and intriguing. One has the ability to set the color of their choice or cycle through the plethora of colors at a fast or slow, morphing speed. A monkey could operate the cube with its simple, accessible controls. Plus, it plugs in and charges your Ipod while allowing you to get your groove on. Hands down, a fantastic buy and groovy little beat box! I think it will work wonders for what I am hoping to accomplish in the delivery room and beyond.

Neat.

by Samuel Armendariz from Dallas, Texas on 2010-08-03
It does what i need it to. the price seems a little high now that i see that I home's with clocks cost about the same, but i wanted one without a clock so that's what i got :) the sound is great and the color scheme is very cool, i do hate that you must keep the volume up button pressed for a while to get some noticeable difference and that it acts weird whenever i place it on and then turn it on, like it just starts my library from the beginning instead of letting me pick the song so its tedious at times. But besides that a small yet powerful set of speakers and charger with style

Nice Speakers

by Alex K. from on 2010-08-05
I bought these speakers about a week ago. My first thought after opening the box was that they had a beautiful design; they are very aesthetically pleasing. I plugged them in and I was shocked at good they sounded.Sound:I listened to stuff ranging from The White Stripes to Rachmaninoff. For rock, these things rocked my room. The bass was quite heavy, but not at all overpowering. Compared to other computer 2.1 systems, these have very sweet mid range. It's not a scooped hollow sound at all. Also, it has tweeters unlike other similar systems. All nuances of multiple piano concerti were reproduced in a very accurate manner. These speakers get very loud with pretty much no distortion. I listen to FLAC recordings through a mid-grade sound card, if that helps you buy this.Cons: Short Cables and all the things other reviewers mention. I personally have no problems, but I see where there may be problems. The remote is a bit sub-par, but doesn't bother me.You may be scared about all the people that got bad sets, but every company has lemons.Verdict: Buy these speakers if you want a great quality system without shelling out over a hundred dollars.

Really good stuff

by yoyo from on 2010-07-28
One of my friends owns a pair of Eagle Arion speaker model ET-AR504 and they sound sweet. I really wanted to buy that one because I have listened to it in person, but I picked this one instead because I really liked the headphone extension jack and the orange colored rings looked sharp. All the negative reviews they made me nervous at first, so I called the manufacturer to get a feel of how they handle customers. Guess what, the lady that handled my call did a great job so I felt they do stand behind their products. Guess what, I am glad I bought this! The music coming out of this speaker is just sweet. I am now hearing details that I never heard before. At very high volume, the bass do get a little too much and drowns out the highs and mids. No biggie, just use EQ to lower the bass a little bit and we're good. The real surprise came in when I cranked up the volume...there was very little distortion. WOW! Now that is what I call music! Sweet!Other than the initial anxiety due to the negative reviews, I have no complaints whatsoever about the sound quality of this speaker. It is really good for the price. Plus, I know Amazon would refund me in case something went wrong so go ahead and give this a try, you won't regret it.

Save your money.

by A. Edmods from on 2010-07-23
This speaker system worked well for about two weeks, then the problems started. The relay dies and you are left with three ugly paper weights. It is true that you get what you pay for. That is acceptable in terms of sound quality. But NOT when the system dies under normal use. Save your money.

Need Better Quality Control

by Robert S. Weidner from Wisconsin, USA on 2010-07-05
I purchased these speakers for my son as a gift. When they arrived, the speakers didn't work. The only place we could get sound, was out of the headphone jack on the remote. Amazon was really quick and easy to do a return. I did an exchange for a new set of speakers. Unfortunately, the new set also did not work. Again, no output from the speakers, and this time, the headphone jack only gave audio out of one side, so it was worse than the last pair. I returned this set for a refund and intend to buy him the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker system, which I have and love. I should have done that from the start. :-P I'm sure the Eagle Arion speakers are great, but until they get their quality control issues resolved, I will not purchase from them again. Watch for reviews by their date to see when that issue is resolved.

perfect for my need

by 1337133 from MO USA on 2010-09-04
I needed a set of desktop speakers for my pc to listen to music and watch movies. I needed them cheap and since I live in an apt I don't need big booming monsters. These were the second cheapest at bestbuy. The one cheaper set sounded aweful and was only about 10$ cheaper than these so I got these. And as always with logitech these are of great quality and priced right. They have great sound, the sub-woofer surprised me its more powerful than I expected! The desktop speakers are crystal clear and stylish looking. I turned them up all the way a couple times just to see how they did and they didn't crackle at all and were very loud. Buy them!

Don't Buy This Product

Great News ! Its Worth It !

by Tommy from on 2010-08-26
Truly Amazon has uphold their promise of delivery, and even three days earlier in fact. The speakers are completely awesome and work fine for the $$price that there sold at. I'd recommend this product to anyone who's on a tight budget and who wants genuine results. Overall great product from Logitech an I mite even purchase another one sometime within the next month, as a gift for my little brother. Thanks again, and GOD Bless.

BEWARE! Lasted 4 Months!!!

by EvilOzzness from California on 2010-08-11
I picked these up at Bestbuy in March. They worked great until they started the dreaded crackle and pop phenomenon, which I thought would sort itself out because my other speakers (which still work on our other computer after 6 years of continuous use) did the same thing but it went away after a while. Well, it didn't go away and in fact got worse and worse to the point where everything was inaudible because the sound was cutting in and out so badly.Understand, I don't listen to my music very loudly at all and they were never turned up to even 75% of the max volume output so it's just a case of standard factory defect. I emailed support asking them how I could exchange them or else send them in for repairs because Bestbuy won't exchange products after 3 months and I was instead told that I should check the sound quality from another source, like an ipod. Well the speakers DID NOT come with a magic ipod jack for this purpose and neither did my ipod and I ONLY use these speakers for my PC, so the sound quality through something else doesn't matter in my case because they are not and never will be used for any other purpose except for my PC.Needless to say it's looking like I won't get an exchange or my $50 back and I will be stuck without any speakers on my computer indefinitely while Logitech has their fill of jerking me around and finally just exchanges the faulty system (IF they ever decide to honor the warranty and do as I originally asked). After this experience, especially the poor support, I will never buy a Logitech product again!

The Klippel technology improves the linearity of the frequencies to ensure a deep, precise sound for everything from action-movie explosions to cello musical passages. Adding to the quality is the non-resonant medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure, the 0.75-inch baffles, and the internal bracing, all of which contribute to the sub's superior detail, accuracy, and musicality. Meanwhile, the PSW10's built-in high-current amplifier (50 watts RMS, 100 watts dynamic) supplies all the power you need for big bass, while the adjustable low-pass crossover, phase switch, and volume control make it easy to blend your sub's output with your front and rear speakers. The sub even includes automatic signal-sensing circuitry, meaning it knows when to turn itself on and off. Though the PSW10 will work with any speakers, the sub specifically designed to complement the clean, stylish look and robust sounds of Polk's entire Monitor speaker line. The black oak finish is particularly compelling, with a style that fits seamlessly with most modern furnishings. Connectivity stems from the line- and speaker-level inputs, along with the unfiltered LFE input. The combined options make it easy to connect the PSW10 with any receiver or amplifier. And movie fans will delight in the magnetic shielding, which protects nearby TVs and video monitors from video distortion. Measuring 14 by 14.38 by 16.12 inches (W x H x D) and backed by a five-year warranty on the speaker and a three-year warranty on the internal amp, the PSW10 makes a great introduction to powerful home theater sound. Fantastic bass made even better by the savings

by gugi from on 2010-09-01
The Polk PSW10 provides plenty of deep bass and works easily with many products. If you have a sound bar and are looking for extra bass this product will provide plenty. Adding this to a home theater system is also very easy and provides more bass then you will ever need. What this means is the product should last for a long time because it will not be overused. I am very happy with the purchase and hope to use the product for many years. Great investment so far.

Polk Auto PSW10 Subwoofer

by Steve from on 2010-08-29
I am impressed by this subwoofer, I have had this subwoofer for nine months now and have watched alot of movies and listened to alot of music with it and I like what I have bought. I have got this subwoofer hooked up to a Sony STR-DH800 reciever by RCA Monster cable with a right and left splitter to connect to the subwoofer. Since there is no LFE input I turned the low pass just about all the way up and have got the phase set to 0. This makes enough bass to rattle things in the kitchen one room over, not to mention the picuters on the wall. The auto-on is nice, I have read that there is some lag time but I have not really noticed any. I am pleased with the Polk PSW10 subwoofer.

Solid entry level powered sub

by Michael Bate from on 2010-08-27
Got this to replace a failed sub. Instructions are basic, but give enough information to get it hooked up, though they could be a little more helpful. As many have noted, there is no dedicated mono LFE phono hookup, but the instructions clearly state to connect an LFE port cable to either of the L/R phono inputs and dial the low pass control all the way up. This effectively sets the threshold above the one you set in your external amplifier so the result is the same. The cherry finish looks good, though up close it's clearly a veneer. But for $84 I won't complain at that. The sound is great. Much clearer (less muddy sounding) than my previous higher priced model, though as many point out, not meant for large rooms (mine is 12' x 30'). I got mine to a sweet spot - just about loud enough for the movie theater experience, with no distortion during explosions, though it took a fair bit of trial and error.I doubt you can get anything this good below the $100 price point. Before this I tried the Sony SA-W2500 Performance Line 100 Watt Subwoofer but it was nowhere near as powerful or as clear a sound. Great value.
