How to overcome the problem of poor sound insulation?

Hi We have very poor sound insulation between our house and our neighbors. Our neighbor is not excessively noisy and are not. However, you can hear him speak, walking around, etc. This is only really a problem at night, especially late when the noise travels. Any suggestions profitable on possible solutions?

The fabric absorbs sound. Can you find a way to hang a decorative rug or carpet on the wall between the bedroom and the neighbor? It will help.
