Once upon a time there were a bunch of guys in white vans patrolling parking lots for naive victims to sell their junk speakers to. They claimed the retail price was over $3,000 and you can get them for a mere fraction of that price - $500! Peoples eyes glazed over and all common sense flew out the window as they placed their hard earned cash in the hands of these snake oil salesmen only to get their shiny new speakers home and find out they're worth maybe a hundred bucks.
So the moral of the story is - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
