For the price, this is a great system

by mark twain from atlanta on 2010-09-02
I have a Panasonic Plasma in our Apt and I love it! So i wanted to get a Panasonic HTS to match it. Not to mention i wanted to try out the Viera Link option which ended up being just an 'OK' feature. Basically i can control my TV(not cable) and my HTS w/ just the Home theater sys controller. But it still lacks the important controls for the TV (i.e. pic format and pic mode) so its really not all its cracked up to be. I was trying to decide on this unit and the Panasonic SC-BT230 5.1 Channel System. The BT230 has a blu ray player. When i compared the 2 systems the only difference was the blu ray player along with some web features(youtube, pandora, netflix). Also the BT230 has decoding for newer audio codecs(DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD).The web features i could care less about bc i have a computer hooked up to my TV. The blu ray wasn't worth the extra 130 dollars to me considering i could buy a blu ray player for around 100 bucks. Plus i want to wait for the price of blu ray disc to go down before i invest in a player. They will only get cheaper as time goes on. Anyway, when comapring the 2 HTS's, the SC-PT480 has the almost the same surround sound sys as the BT230. Both are 1000 watts -RMS- (both really only put out 446 watts -FTC-) and both have the SAME Speakers. So if you're looking for an inexpensive 5.1 system and aren't ready to dive into blu ray yet, then go for it. The bass is pretty powerful, IMO. I kept it on the lowest setting when I tried it out on an episode of True Blood and then a few scenes from The Dark Knight. Like the other reviewer said, it does pack a pretty good punch for its size. Now I can't wait to get Halo Reach this month and try it out on the 360.Pro's: Inexpensive Small speakers Small DVD unit sleek design Strong sound for small-medium sized rooms DVD up-conversion HDMI port 5.1 Surround sound Front speaker surround sound mode (surround sound from all speakers set up like in the pic above) Ipod/Iphone ready Easy set upCon's: Not 7.1 Not many ports on back No fine tuning No DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD

Good System for a Bedroom

by Pat Dickman from on 2010-09-02
This 5.1 DVD system has a specific niche - This system takes up very little space and packs a good quality sound for the price. I listen to music, view DVD's, and sports and movies sourced by an HD cable STB. The surround speakers do their job just fine. My test DVD that I used was Diana Krall's "Live in Paris". It is a standard 480p disc and my DVD player in the LR is also standard. The LR speakers are KLM with two 12" woofers in each and bright dome tweeters. The subwoofer is a passive 15" and has a huge magnet. The music is clean and has a good "sound stage". Jeff Hamilton's impactful drums and the acoustic bass played by John Clayton are replicated as if they are in the room. (So it seemed was Diana.) In the bedroom where I placed the Panasonic (easy install)I had to turn down the db's for the center channel and was able to drop the subwoofer (four settings available) output so it was cleaner and not so "boomy". The subwoofer has a very small footprint (5.5Wx10Dx11H). The system pleased me in its playback, and the up-conversion on my 37' Visio at 720P was a delightful surprise! I was given deeper and more vibrant colours and better detail in the fabrics, hair and so forth - much more realistic. The optical audio cable was run from the STB and gives me great 5.1 sound while viewing HD sporting events and HD movies. As I wrote in my above preamble this system is for an intimately sized room - our BR is 14x18 and was filled with sound beautifully.

A good little surround sound.

by Siryak from on 2010-06-03
Ok first of all coming into this don't expect this system to blow you away. This is a pretty small little surround sound system and packs a pretty good punch for its' size. On the other hand it is not going to sound as good as the higher end surround sounds(obviously). I bought this for a system to use in my bedroom and it works great for that. Now don't get me wrong it does pack a pretty good punch, just nowhere near as good as the bigger systems. If you are looking for a good cheap surround sound this one will do just fine though. If you have never had a better system then you will probably think it is amazing. My recommendation though is if you can afford it I would go for a higher end model. I went into this one not expecting much, so I wasn't disappointed, but if you are expecting it to blow you away you will be.The bottom line is this system is just average at a very low price.

Watch out what you wish for!

by Charles T. Peele from Port Orange, Fl on 2010-05-27
Since I had a five year old Panasonic precurser to this thing, and have had faith in Amazon from earlier purchases, I ordered the SCPT 480. Since I had never heard of the sources, listed by Amazon, I recalled they listed J&R Music. J&R is a trustworthy supplier so I went to them, ordered the system and in record time received it. Unfortuneately it proved to be defective and needed to be returned. Could not ask for better treatment than I received from J&R's cust service. Second system arrived, again, in record time. I returned it, DEFECTIVE as the first was, this morning. I do not blame Amazon nor do I blame J&R---I blame Panasonic who has fallen to the same level as other out sourced product manfacturers and expects we customers to be their quality control. They have become like the Itallian Chef who knows when his pasta is ready by throwing it at the wall untill it sticks..............CTP

Description

Panasonic SC-PT670 Overview; High Quality Sound: The SC-PT670 uses front and center Bamboo Cone Speakers for crisp, clear mid- and high-frequency ranges and powerful, deep bass. A rigid, low-density bamboo material used in the front and center speaker's cones helps achieve a clean, responsive sound. Vocals are pure and clear and dialog is crisp and easy to understand. The Kelton Type Subwoofer has an internal structure that is divided into two completely sealed spaces. The drive unit that is mounted to the space in the back causes the air in the front space to vibrate. This causes an Acoustic Filter effect in the front space to absorb unwanted noise while also vibrating the Passive Radiators. This achieves highly robust, reverberating bass sounds. Built-in Dolby Digital and DTS Decoder renders movie-theater-like sound while Home Theater Mode produces a total output power of 1000W of High Clarity Sound. Easy to Use: The built-in Universal Dock for iPod gives you a great new way to enjoy music and video3. Just slip your iPod into the cradle and enjoy. The dock charges your iPod , allows you to use the home theater remote to control the iPod , has on-screen audio menus, and also plays back iPod video. Pros: great sound, very clear, and easy to set up cons: wires are a pain to organize, pain to get the hang of all the settings

Good deal

by Allie from Central NY on 2010-05-17
I paid about $200 for this unit around Christmas time and saved it for when my boyfriend and I were moving into our house in April. The product was a little difficult to put together and also difficult to use when switching back and forth between the TV mode and DVD mode. I'm not a techie by any means and neither is my boyfriend but once we got it all hooked up and read the manuals it's great for our home. The sounds quality is actually pretty decent and the subwoofer is amazing. It's also able to be upgraded to wireless speakers if you buy the kit for it, which is about half the price of the unit but we have all the speakers surrounding the TV and it sounds great. I love the tall speakers as well, just adds a little something extra to the look and makes it look really nice. Good buy for someone who just wants a good unit for their living room.

Great product for the price. Sound quality is just not the best. You get what you pay for.

bummed

by Ona Charmley from Chico, CA on 2010-03-16
Was led to believe this was a wireless system. Was going to try to utilize the front speakers only but then I needed another cord for the sound to work when I just was watching TV . Then that cord didn't work and there was another one I could get. I just wanted speakers for my TV. I'm sending the unit back. Usually Amazon is so good about being able to send things back. They make it so easy with printing out the UPS shipping label directly from their site. But this time even though they're going to credit the return shipping cost I have to go and get the slip and pay for it myself. :( Makes things very difficult

HDTV is easy. Home-Theater sound systems used to be hard but Panasonic has made it easier than pie (ready-made pie). Blu-ray extends beyond HDTV in sound. HDTV has 5.1-channel ability but Blu-Ray offers 7.1 channels. The SC-BT200 boasts seven speakers to envelop viewers in a remarkably true-to-life surround sound experience. The front and center channel speakers are made with a bamboo diaphragm which provides a tightly intertwined fiber to deliver greater rigidity and accuracy, resulting in clear reproduction of sounds over a wide frequency range, from massive explosions to metallic clangs. The subwoofer features a Kelton system with a dual diameter structure to deliver a deep powerful bass. The Smart Set-up guide uses the help of GUI navigation to allow users to set up their SC-BT200 home-theater system for optimum performance. The result is being able to stay at home while enjoying a thrilling, incredibly lifelike audio performance that rivals a movie theater. The appeal of Panasonic Blu-ray products goes beyond the breathtaking pictures and sound; the networking functions open the door to new kinds of entertainment fun. The SC-BT200 can connect to the Internet for downloading bonus content available with Blu-ray Discs and for playing Internet games via BD-Live. This connectivity is further enhanced with the addition of VIERA-Cast. VIERA-Cast integrates the Amazon Video-on-Demand (VOD) online movie rental service. The Amazon VOD service joins other content options already available on VIERA-Cast, including videos from You Tube, access to online photos via Picasa Web Albums, financial information from Bloomberg News, as well as local weather updates. The possibilities are virtually endless. It comes with a Universal Dock for iPod, making it easy for iPod users to play their favorite music or video downloads. This system is also Green-friendly. It has a power-save mode to protect the green.

No Netflix!!

Great sound. Easy to install. Excellent technical features. HOWEVER, if I had known that Netflix was not a feature and that Panasonic has chosen not to ever upgrade, I would have thought twice about this product.

Am Weary of It After Six Months

by S. Love from Frisco, TX USA on 2010-06-01
I love the picture and the sound of this unit, but will be replacing it very soon. I am tired of waiting for it to power up when I turn it on and I'm tired of the waiting to switch sources. Most days I burn more electricity than I should because I just leave it on, even I'm not listening to it. But I am even more tired of waiting for it to switch from one playback source to another. There are no individual buttons to select a source. You have to press the "Ext-In" button repeatedly to cycle through the available inputs. If you have several sources (like I do) that gets very tiresome, especially since it's VERY slow to respond. Sometimes it doesn't respond at all and you have to press the button again and again. I have seen this problem mentioned in another review. What about all you five and four star raters? Do you not have this problem? I'm going to find a good Samsung. Any suggestions?

Really nice

by Megan N. Tucker from on 2010-05-19
I thought it was very nice as far as sound is concerned, however, I am no expert. My only complaints with the system are that it takes several seconds to switch between input modes and the FM antenna doesn't work very well at all inside my house. Both minor issues.

Panasonic SC-BT200 is good for the money

by James S. Mossberg from TX, USA on 2010-05-18
It is a lot more features than I need. It would be nice to have a simple instruction for someone who just wishes for sound, TV & blue ray interface. Too much cable stuff for me at least in the waning years of my life.

The Home Theater system was advertised as used and priced accordingly. It looked brand new. It was carefully packaged in the original packaging and included all original documentation. It was easy to install and my husband and I are thrilled with it.

Lots of features, easy to use / install and great sound for the money

by Russell from So Cal on 2010-08-27
I'm very happy with this purchase. I was looking originally at sound bars with a Blu Ray player that also would access Netflix. The reviews for the Samsung where poor. I was told that LG makes good Blue Ray players, and HTIB systems. We looked them up and found this one that had wireless rear speakers and sub woofer. WiFi built in for network access, and lots of online features including Netflix.Installation was very easy, color coded wires for the speakers, the wireless sub woofer and rear speakers connected as soon as they had power. I have a WiFi network, blue tooth devices, and wireless home phones, none caused a problem. The rear speakers are 18ft away from the TV, still sound great and have no interference.Getting the HTIB on the network was a breeze too. Even the Blue ray player updates is easy, it auto checks for me and asks to download and install.I love this system, and for only $630 from amazon it's even better.Note that wireless speakers still need an amp, so they plug into a device about the size of an external hard drive, that acts as the wireless receiver and the power (amp) for the speakers. Some people get confused about wireless speakers, they are just not wired to the base/player.

Very Happy

by Justin From Chicago from on 2010-08-07
This system is great, sounds very good with movies and music. Setup was very easy, the only thing that stalled the setup was that four screws that go with the tall boy speakers were missing.(oh well, not a big deal)I was able to easily hook up a xbox 360 and direcTv box to this without trouble. Also make sure you have an extra HDMI cable cause you will need it, if your not going to go with HDMI it comes with component cable. The Ipod dock works great and the blue ray is awesome. The Netflix, youtube, pandora ect. are awesome! Check out cnet for reviews they are very good.(as of 8/6/2010 they don't have a review for this) One other thing wireless speakers are not really wireless but if comes with a box the size of a wii and that's how it becomes "wireless". It saves running wires to the back of your room and trying to hide them, trust me its really not the big deal that some people are making it out to be. It sounds great and you won't regret buying it. Lastly buy if from amazon and not the other companies because amazon will take care you of you if something goes wrong. If you bought this item and need any help or question just comment and I'll get back to you ASAP.

LG LHB975 Review

by NC from on 2010-07-12
LG did a good job in the design and features of the HTIB. Pros: I've been waiting for this system to come out for the last 5 months. Installation was a breeze, had the system running in less than 5 minutes. The sound is acceptable for the average person, but I am more of an audiphile. The lack of sound settings such as Bass, Treble limits me in tailoring the sound I want. The sub is a good "woofer" but lacks in the sub sonic capabilities of a true "sub woofer". I've hooked my cable set top thru the HDMI input, but when adjusting any of the sound effects or volume, the graphics do not appear on the TV. The graphics do appear when using FM or watching Netcast. Documentation is given a "B" because of the english grammer and poor discussion of "sound effects". I had wanted to re-program my Charter Cable remote to work the system, but was only able to get the "DVD" portion to work, volume control still has to be used with original remote.

Wireless system is a joke!

by Kevinp from Mansfield, TX on 2010-06-19
When it worked, it worked great. Sound was better than I expected. But the wireless system was extremely flaky. It worked for several days and then it would quit. Tried to remate for over an hour, gave up, exchanged unit for a new one. Next unit right out of the box would not connect to wireless speakers. After many attempts I go it to work but a couple days passed and my rented movie went in, corn was popped, but no rear or sub could be heard. Tried and tried but had to watch the movie without my speakers working. The next day it went back in the box and shipped off for a refund. Planet73 gave a refund but would not refund shipping either direction so I was out about $100.00 in shipping fees.

Works great, now that Netflix streams

by DJH66 from South USA on 2010-06-12
Got this right after it was available in May 2010 (should have waited a month and saved $110). Works great with easy set up. The wireless subwoofer and "wireless" rear speakers just worked. I didn't need to do any special set up. It is true the rear speakers aren't truly wireless but I researched before hand and knew what I was getting. Even though they are attached to the wireless unit by wires, it got them to the rear of my room where I could hide the wires. Subwoofer is great, just plug it in anywhere. The picture quality is great and I think the sound is great but I have to admit I'm not really an audiofile. Some have said they wish you could customize the audio settings more. I'm doing fine with the presets. Blu ray disk load quickly. I have the unit hard wired to my network so I can't comment on how well the wireless hookup to internet works. But wired like mine is outstanding. I can stream Netflix movies and Youtube and play any file on my home network (music, photos, movies). Pandora is great for music. Frankly I haven't even set up the FM radio because between my home network and Pandora I have all the music choices I could want. I ran optical audio cable back from TV and play my TV sound back through LG speakers, really nice to have this feature. Have my Xbox 360 going through the LG so I can take advantage of the speakers. Very happy with my purchase. So what don't I like. For a while I couldn't get Netflix to stream. I made sure I updated the firmware. I also called Netflix (who's call center was VERY helpful) they told me what ports I needed to open on my router. It still didn't work. On LG's website I found a thread where it appeared many of the LG's were having the same problem. Finally there was an answer, I had to go into settings and reset the unit to factory settings. After turning it off and restarting the unit everything streamed fine. I don't know if this would be a problem to someone setting it up now with updated firmware. The only other thing that would be nice for a unit in this price range, would be for the remote to have a keyboard on the back like some are now providing. If you're looking to upgrade to Blu Ray and want to get surround sound, I would recommend this unit, especially now that the price has come down.

Sturdy brackets

by M. V. Damiano from on 2010-09-01
Mounted speakers with no pre-drilled holes right to these brackets an got them up on the wall in no time. Adjusted teh arm to were I wanted them, tightened them down and have never moved in a couple years.

Works Great

by EMIdesigns from on 2010-08-04
The mounts work well with my Onkyo HT-S3300 keyhole system. Speakers weigh under 3 lbs. I agree with most that these mounts will probably not hold anything close to the 10 lb weight limit it claims. I made sure to tighten the mount quite well without over tightening them before mounting them to a stud. (There are 3 different areas on the mount to adjust angles or whatnot) No speaker sagging yet!!

Good speaker holders

These speaker mounts are working fine for me. They are holding some older Sony surround speakers, including a somewhat larger center one, with no problems. They help get the speakers out of the way.

Pleasant to look at although I wish they were a bit smaller. Work exactly as described and have no problem holding cube speakers.

Great speaker mounts for small speakers

by Reviewer from USA on 2010-07-12
These speaker mounts installed easily. The price was very good too. The mechanism is made of plastic, so I don't think it can hold heavy speakers well. There is a screw that has to be tightened at the angle that can be rotated. It's below a hexagonal plastic cap (with SANUS written on it). I had to tighten it quite a lot after positioning the speaker. That helped maintening the speakers in the correct position. My speakers are in a cube shape and not too heavy. So that was the perfect product for me.

Mounts that do their job.

by Jeremy Sampsell from Canton, GA USA on 2010-07-02
This speaker mount set has worked perfectly fine for 3 years now. No problems whatsoever. I'm not sure what to say about them other than they are very easy to install and adjust. I mounted mine from the ceiling so I can't speak to whether or not they function as well if you mount them on the wall. I assume they would do just fine wall mounted as well, though. I also had pretty decent sized satellite speakers on them (about 3-4 pounds each) and they never looked as if they were failing to hold the weight. I have since changed my speakers and the mounting but these Sanus speaker mounts worked perfectly for 3 years. I highly recommend them if they are still availble.

Great for Beginner

by Michael Kraus from Tampa, FL USA on 2010-05-12
This worked wonderfully for me. I've never installed speakers before and wasn't sure if my speakers would fit these stands. When the package game in, it included three different connectors for all types of speakers. One of them fit mine perfectly!Pros: Cheap, Versatile, Easy to Install Cons: No speaker-wire hole through the stand for cleaner install, the plates that cover the screw holes are very loose and are hard to keep on after your first removal.

Can't beat the price

by C. Guigliano from on 2010-01-28
you can't beat the price on these. They do the job perfectly for the smaller speaker I have. I mounted them on the ceiling and they look great. The only thing I was a little disappointed in is there is no way to hide the speaker wires. I have another set that lets you feed the wire through the mount itself hiding the wires which you can not do with these. Other than that I am happy so far. Just mounted them a few days ago so only time will confirm if they hold up or not.

Just what I needed

by Matthew P. Stenberg from Minneapolis on 2009-12-26
Just finished my basement and ran speaker wire through the walls and these worked great for mounting my four sattelite speakers.

Functional, but not exactly sturdy

by Kyle Moffett from on 2009-10-15
I ordered these to ceiling-mount the side and rear speakers for my new home theater system. (Onkyo HT-S6200 7.1-Channel Home Entertainment Receiver/Speaker Package with Dock for the iPod). With a little fiddling I was able to get them to mount adequately on the wall and ceiling, but overall I was not impressed. The mounts may look metallic, but they are constructed from a relatively cheap plastic. The alignment of the pieces is not always very good, and occasionally the locking screws are at an odd angle. The result is that the seams are pretty obviously visible, even from 4 feet away. They do adequately support the speakers, however I am mildly concerned what should happen if someone were to accidentally bump one while carrying around something large or bulky. Specifically, while the base is very thoroughly attached to the joists in the ceiling with 2 of the included screws (the size of which are a bit overkill for the purpose), the whole speaker on the bracket tends to vibrate quite a bit when jostled. The included mounting hardware kit is also eclectic. I was able to find an adequate way to mount my speakers using the provided screws, but only after some trial and error as the instructions were pretty much useless.I do not recommend this product for middle to high-end speaker systems due to the shoddy workmanship and poor overall design; for $8 per bracket I'd expect something a little better than dense cast plastic.
