The OnQ legrand Home Theater Outlet Straps feature two decorator frames to connect your in-wall speaker wiring to your home theater receiver. Each outlet strap contains five pairs of gold-plated binding posts and one female RCA jack. On the back, the binding posts have set-screw terminals that accept speaker wire up to 10 gauge. The RCA jack is backed with a female F-type connector. The strap also includes a connection for the sub-woofer for a true 5.1 multi-room audio installation. Decora-style cover not included.

Description

Keep the wires and cables of your home theater system organized and out of sight. The OnQ legrand Home Entertainment Connection Center provides a single connection point for satellite/cable, video, phone, data and speakers. It is recess-mounted to conceal messy wires behind the wall, while providing a low profile interface. You can even paint the HECC unit to match the decor of your home. The HECC comes with a Source Input Mounting Plate, that enables the use of a lyriQTM Single or Triple Source Input Unit. It is also equipped with a built-in interface board for pre-wired home theater cabling (5.1, 6.1, 7.1). A universal Keystone style phone RJ45 insert, data RJ45 insert and three feed-through "F" connector inserts for CATV, AUX, and satellite are also included. Additional universal Keystone inserts can be added for increased functionality. A "User side" (located on the front of the unit) and an "Installer side" (located on the rear) are designed to simplify wire terminations. The "User side" allows easy access to telephone, data, CATV, DSS, and audio connection points. The "Installer side" allows easy access to the rear connection points by rotating the top portion of the HECC out and downward, thus displaying readable connection diagrams. The cover is an attractive white powder coated metal which allows cable access through the bottom and includes an installed plunger for quick access.

Simple retrofit for adding hinged doors to older Channel Vision Panels

I have an older Channel Vision structured wiring panel and one of the things that always bugged me was that I had to remove 6 screws to get the cover off. Over time I slowly lost the screws and became too lazy to replace them and sometimes even to put them back. The hinge kit is just what I've been waiting for. It converts the panel cover into a hinged door with a lock and saves me from ever having to play around with the screws. The biggest downside is that, since my panel cover was manufactured before the hinge kit became available, that there is no punch-out for the lock. It took me a good 20 min to drill a hole through the cover large enough for the lock. Another minor quibble is that the small plaster spacers that are supposed to go on the cabinet on the lock side don't really seem to work. In fact they push the lock far enough away that it won't lock anymore. The solution was simple - I just didn't use them.

Does not adhere to painted vertical surfaces

Wow, $45 down the drain. (That's what Amazon was charging when I purchased this.) Bought this to discreetly wire home theater speakers, planning to paint room once wires were up. Installed, carefully following instructions and on a clean vertical surface freshly painted several weeks earlier. Several vertical runs and a horizontal run on a vertical surface. None stuck for the long term. Stuck Initially. But, several hours later, flat wires would be falling off. Tried tacks placed every six feet and, still, same problem -- come back several hours latter to see significant parts of the run (those between the tacks) hanging loose.Guess it's back to usual (and much cheaper) 16 gauge speaker wires painted to match wall surface.I also wonder how well the slick vinyl exterior surface of these flat wires will handle paint. I never got to that stage as the entire sagging and sticky (but not sufficiently sticky) mess ended up in the garbage. But, I suspect that surface will not handle interior flat wall paint very well.For horizontal runs, under carpets, and such, should work fine.

I purchased this item because I didn't want to run a wire behind the wall. It worked like a charm and it is virtually invisible. If people here have given bad reviews is because they didn't install it properly. I stuck it to a painted (eggshell finish) drywall down to the baseboard. It looks great adhered to the baseboard as it followed its contours. Once finished, I painted over it with the same paint (2 coats), and it can barely be seen.I did not use the provided connectors which is probably why my connection was such a success. The connectors that come with it are bulky and way too big. I soldered the ends to the speaker wire provided with my system and it worked flawlessly. I only used this expensive wire from the floor to the speakers, and used the regular wire underneath the baseboards leading to the receiver.I would certainly recommend this product to someone who knows how to solder the ends. I would also recommend using a vertical level to draw a straight line up the wall as a guide so you don't get any "bumps" on the wire. It looks great once it has been painted.

I have this laid under laminate flooring. So far has worked just fine. The end connectors have a screw so you can secure them into something, but I don't know what. The screws aren't long enough to reach a wall stud through drywall, so if you attach it to the wall with the screw (which I did behind my entertainment center) you will just be screwing it into drywall, which doesn't hold it very well (my wife knocked it out twice while fishing power cords from the back of the entertainment center). But the audio sounds fine to me from my back speakers. Walking over the flooring with the wires underneath seems to have no impact on the sound.

Hard to see, not so easy to install.
