Loud music, dogs barking, laundry room noises, trains going by are all reasons why you may want to being soundproofing a room, or an entire house for that. We all know how annoying it is when you are trying to sleep, do business or just plain relax, but all you can hear is a bunch of racket. It's definitely frustrating so sound proofing a room is a good cure for this.

To understand how to sound proof a room, it is necessary to understand a little bit about "sound" and how it all works. Sound is a bunch of waves that travels through something. This can be walls, floors etc. Now some walls and floors are better to soundproof a room, but some are the complete opposite of a soundproof room. You can hear absolutely everything.

Another source of unwanted noise in your home is a vibration. A vibration is when a sound bounces back and forth between a medium. If sounds are bouncing off walls then it will cause a vibration which then of course causes you to want to being soundproofing a room to fix this.

If money is an issue then you of course will want the cheapest, most affordable way to begin soundproofing a room. One of the cheapest, more affordable ways is to simply lay down some carpet. This will dampen the noise, but it won't completely get rid of it and is most definitely NOT the most effective way to sound proof a room.

Another way to sound proofing a room for cheap is to get rough like materials. Putting different things on the walls or applying an acoustic spray onto the ceiling will minimize the noise but again, is NOT the most effective way to soundproofing a room.
