Rap & Hip-Hop Culture : How to Soundproof a Room

Stop Noise Bleed through a common wall

The noise prevention blood through a common wall is the target of one of the soundproofing more frequently in efforts. The issue of unwanted noise transmission through common walls occurs in the same way if the application is residential, industrial or commercial. To implement the sound reduction techniques that adequately prevent noise from traveling through walls common in a home, office or industrial setting, understanding why the noise travels through a house or building in the first place is beneficial.

What we interpret as sound is simply a structured collection of vibrations that travel from molecule to molecule through such means as air and water, and as solids such as wood, concrete and glass. If it is not common walls between rooms are not generally equipped to prevent transmission of noise between rooms, and in fact, tend to provide a common ideal surface for which the sound can travel easily. Therefore, the objective in the transmission control sound between rooms is to inhibit the ability of sound waves to pass through these common surfaces and into adjoining rooms.

The reduction transmission of sound waves through the walls of a room involves isolating the room by increasing the density of the structure and the establishment of a disconnect original wall. An effective way to increase density is the line every wall in a room with a loaded mass vinyl such as dB-Bloc, a heavy membrane designed to be stapled or screwed onto the surface of the entire wall. Adding a wall density reduces their ability to vibrate, which reduces the ability of sound vibrations to pass through.

The second phase of an isolation ward to reduce sound transmission through walls is the establishment of a disconnect of the original wall surface. The walls of a common room adjacent to the next provides a means of sound waves to travel directly through the surface and in the next room. When you create a secondary area and therefore the space between the walls, this treatment can force sound waves to collapse between the walls and significantly reduce the amount of noise heard in the next room. Creating a secondary wall surface is the placement of horizontal strips evenly spaced from the ground to make up the roof and add a new layer of plaster in front of each wall of the room.

Additional measures, such as sealing joints between walls, floors and ceilings with acoustic caulk and doubling the density of the disconnection method described above can enhance the effectiveness a review of the proposed sound wall. For example, using two separated (not touching) layers of dB-Bloc and creating a third layer of plaster to a different depth the latter can improve the results to be expected of a proposed wall insulation. The method of increasing the density and disconnection wall surfaces is very effective for noise reduction, though no treatment will generate a 100 percent reduction in sound transmission through common walls.

The need for wall soundproofing treatments covering a wide range of applications such as homes, physician offices, classrooms, sanctuaries and many others. At the start of any soundproofing project, consulting with a knowledgeable soundproofing professional is recommended to ensure that all variables are considered and the most effective treatment is applied.

Description

The Sonic Barrier 1" acoustic damping foam is a precisely engineered material that offers optimum absorption for its thickness. The material features our exclusive embossed surface finish that helps to trap acoustic energy and improve high frequency performance. This finish is applied to an acoustic-grade open-cell polyether foam, which absorbs and converts the acoustic energy into low-level heat. A very aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive provides easy and permanent installation onto any surface. The Sonic Barrier 1" foam is excellent for general loudspeaker cabinet use. The non-composite nature of this material means that it acts as a sound absorbent across a wide range of frequencies. For situations where the cabinet walls are already acoustically dead, composite barriers may not be necessary-- in this case, the pure foam material can offer a lower-cost alternative with minimal difference in performance. The foam will help absorb unwanted sound from within the cabinet without disrupting airflow between the driver and port. This can reduce unwanted sound reflections and prevent them from exiting through the cone or port. The foam can cause an increase in apparent volume, which can help to offset the space taken up by the driver or the port. Sold in 18" x 24" Sheets
