Mitsubishi Projectors - ComputerTV at CES 2009
In the past 12 months sales of HDTVs have soared. In court today-HDTVs-edge and high-definition sources demand dramatically higher data transfer rate of previous generations of component audio / video. They put incredible bandwidth / demands performance of HDMI cables. In fact, the most advanced components of today there are close to the limits of current technology HDMI.
Forums online have been inundated with questions about HDMI cables. As a connoisseur of the industry that I have been answering some of these questions. Here are five of the most often.
1. Is there really a difference between the HDMI cable and low-cost cable expensive?
There is a difference between expensive and HDMI cables budget. It revolves around the quality of the cable construction and materials used. The question is whether this will affect my creation. You must first determine the length between its source and screen. If this is within 15 feet of a "standard" cable can.
If more than 15 feet that are best to consider a "high speed" cable. Make sure you buy from a trusted source and that the cable is marked with the HDMI logo and says it is a version 1.3 (do not worry about A, B or C, since they are only testing protocols) If you live in a coastal area of high humidity or worth considering buying a cable with connectors gold. While this will not improve your signal will stop the corrosion degrade the signal in time.
Some people assume that since the signals are digital or cable works or not. Sometimes, however, the 1s and 0s are not all there because of signal degradation due to the lower cable construction. That may be especially true with audio and video sources such as CDs and DVDs. The signal degrades gracefully to a point and then separate. Music and video is not like data. Digital signal processors can work with a degradation signal and provide less than perfect sound and images.
You can never improve a signal through an expensive digital cable, but it certainly can degrade the signal using a lower quality cable.
2. Is it OK to bend the HDMI cables?
It is best to avoid bending an HDMI cable, it certainly does not abide. What this does is changes the distance between the cables, shielding and isolation internally in the cable.
The cable manufacturing process can have a dramatic effect on how the information is transmitted from one side of the cable to the other. This means that a cable with better protection and a more precise distance between the "intelligence" and "earth" wires, will give a better connection with less interference. Many things can affect your signal. The electrons will create a standing wave in the cable, creating a small magnetic field around the cable. Any imperfection or splice in the cable interrupt these waves are reflected and / refraction of waves. Also magnetic information can escape a cable to another.
3. Should I buy 1.3bo HDMI 1.3a HDMI cables or what?
There is some confusion in the market over all versions. What is being referenced here is the version of the specification, not to be confused with the type of connector.
While you choose version 1.3 that will be fine. The suffixes of A, B or C is merely refer to the test protocols and really have no impact on consumers, though manufacturers being used in the market. (higher numbers / letters are better ...)
4. Can I get the same quality video / audio cable HDMI to DVI-D?
"DVI-I" stands for "DVI-Integrated" and supports both digital and analog transfers, so works with both digital and analog Visual Display Units. "DVI-D" stands for "DVI-Digital" and supports digital transfers only. DVI also includes creating a data link to the second high-resolution displays, though many devices do not implement this. In those that do, the connector is sometimes referred to as DVI-DL (dual link).
When you convert HDMI to DVI you drop the audio as DVI does not support audio signals. You will have to take a separate cable link between the source and the sound system for this to work.
It will also review the configuration of the software in its source, so they know they are not printed but audio from the HDMI output separately.
Some new DVD players, TVs (including HDTVs) and video projectors have DVI / HDCP connectors, which are physically the same as DVI connectors but transmit an encrypted signal using the HDCP protocol for copy protection. Computers with DVI video connectors can use many DVI-equipped with high definition televisions as a display, however, due to management Digital rights, it is unclear whether such systems will eventually be able to play protected content, like the link is not encrypted.
5. When I connect my laptop Blu-ray high definition gives me an error about violating copyright. What can I do?
You are against an HDCP (copy protection for high-definition) problem here.
HDCP is a form of digital copy protection developed by Intel Corporation to prevent copying of audio and digital video as it travels through various cables and connections, but that copy is permitted under fair use laws. Each device of handshakes with the other and then pass an encryption key to say it's right to display or reproduce the signal. This is done for every frame, usually 30 times second. If you are having problems with blank audio or video is more than likely one of your devices is not compatible with HDCP.
Normally if you connect with HDMI all the way through the connection string that should not have this problem.

To help you get a great 3D experience, use our checklist below to ensure that you have everything you need. If you have any questions or want to learn more about 3D, we invite you to visit 3D 101--our center for everything 3D. To get started with 3D, please ensure that you have: A Display The first--and most important--item you'll need is a 3D-ready display--whether it be a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays usually have a higher processing power than older models as they need to display one image for each eye to create a 3D effect. A Source While your display is ready for 3D playback, you still need a device to read 3D content (i.e., a movie or a show). This source can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3. Content In order to watch 3D, you will need to get some 3D content. This 3D content will come from the source mentioned above in the form of a 3D program, movie, or game. Please ensure that your 3D movies are in the Blu-ray 3D format, as this new format will provide the best 3D experience. 3D Glasses All 3D HDTVs on the market require Active Shutter glasses to create the 3D effect. You will need to buy one pair of glasses for each viewer. Also make sure that the Active Shutter glasses you buy are compatible with your display--for example, buy the glasses from the same brand as your 3D HDTV. HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a hgh-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation--with bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second)--will be able to carry the 3D signal without any loss of quality. With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5 Features
