Soundproofing an apartment?

hi guys! i am moving to a new apartment and i have 1500 watt/2000 watt speakers that i love to play and a nice home theater system. please give me some info on soundproofing a living room or bedroom, i will be living on the top floor so i mainly may need soundproofing for the floor (not sure). the doors on the apt are thin, so what do i need to put on the door and around it? do those sound proof curtains work?
