information need to connect home theater, can anyone help?

i have the Harman AVR247 receiver to be connected to the TV (Red White Yellow composite input / output only), DVD (with compounds Red White Yellow S-video output, optical out) i have connected a DVD optical AVR and DVD video out (yellow compound) to the TV. works, but I have to connect to DVD Video to AVR and AVR to TV in
