Basement Home Theater Room

Need help with prewired basement room home theatre system?

I finished off my basement last year, before closing it up with drywall, I prewired for home theatre system, also for 4 speakers in the walls.
How do I take the exposed wires and put the metal type plugs on them to plug into system, or is that necessary?

I think what you may be asking is how do you terminate these wires to connect to your speakers as well as how do they come out of the wall and be able to connect to your system. For your speakers, get a crimp connector set with female spade plugs. These will crimp onto the speaker wire (after you expose about 1/2" of bare wire) and then plug neatly to the speaker terminal. For wher ethe amplifier connects to the speakers, use a wall plate such as the one below to connect the speaker wire from beho9nd and allow you to neatly connect your amplifier to the sping loaded connectors in the wall. It helps to label each set of terminals so that you know which ones go to which speakers. You can do the same thing for signal wires. Go to partsexpress.com- they have a ton of things that are helpful for tidying up home theater installations, especially if you are doing it yourself.
