The Sonic Barrier 1" acoustic damping foam is a precisely engineered material that offers optimum absorption for its thickness. The material features our exclusive embossed surface finish that helps to trap acoustic energy and improve high frequency performance. This finish is applied to an acoustic-grade open-cell polyether foam, which absorbs and converts the acoustic energy into low-level heat. A very aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive provides easy and permanent installation onto any surface. The Sonic Barrier 1" foam is excellent for general loudspeaker cabinet use. The non-composite nature of this material means that it acts as a sound absorbent across a wide range of frequencies. For situations where the cabinet walls are already acoustically dead, composite barriers may not be necessary-- in this case, the pure foam material can offer a lower-cost alternative with minimal difference in performance. The foam will help absorb unwanted sound from within the cabinet without disrupting airflow between the driver and port. This can reduce unwanted sound reflections and prevent them from exiting through the cone or port. The foam can cause an increase in apparent volume, which can help to offset the space taken up by the driver or the port. Sold in 18" x 24" Sheets

Description

Studiofoam Wedgies are 1' squares of 2" thick Studiofoam and are a great solution for spot treating sound studios, home listening rooms, iso booths and more. With slightly more wedges per square foot than 2" acoustic Studiofoam, Wedgies feature maximized surface area for greater exposure to sound waves. Studiofoam Wedgies are a great solution for small flutter echo problem areas and, when spread apart, yield beneficial sound diffusion off their exposed edges. A famous designer used Wedgies and called to tell us they were even more effective than he'd hoped they'd be, so you know you can trust them to tame your space! Wedgies are available in Charcoal Gray only.

It does a good job absorbing the sound in my studio. In order to control your room sound, you need more or less 60% area coverage in combination and specially with bass traps. Of course it all depends how much absorbtion you want/need and what frequencies need controling.

As with 4" Studiofoam Wedges, 4" Studiofoam Pyramids are recommended for larger spaces, rooms with pronounced low frequency problems or where sonic accuracy is mandatory and stronger acoustic absorption is required. Having 4 sides exposed on each pyramid also yields more sound wave diffusion, which is desirable in some spaces. Thus, 4" acoustic Studiofoam Pyramids will yield less overall dryness than 4" Studiofoam Wedges.
