1080P Lcd Home Theater Projector
LCD or Plasma for you the Super Bowl Party?
Are you an avid sports fan? Looking for the perfect TV for the Superbowl? But you are confused by all the techno jargon and various types of TVs available, and you are not sure that all who trust that salesman in electronics store. Good, here are some tips and details to get you on the right track.
First, how big you want to go. Panasonic recently unveiled 150 new "plasma TV. If you are looking for something that big, Panasonic, then the answer is easy is your only option. Of course, you could buy high definition projector and screen, but I'm not trying projectors in this article. For simplicity, I assume that you are looking for a 50 "or larger screen.
Bottom line up front - Buying a plasma and an LCD, here's why:
LCD suffer more blur motion of plasma televisions. Are being improved, but definitely the plasma screens have the advantage here. Motion Blur is the tendency to lose image resolution, where there is movement on the screen. Guess what there is much movement in football. A plasma television to be preferable to watching any sport.
Televisions Plasma has better contrast ratio. is one of the most important factors when it comes to TV picture quality in general. while the LCD TV are improving their contrast ration and close the gap, plasma TV are simply having a better contrast ratio.
LCD screens have a narrow view angle. A football game is likely to have a lot of people, distributed in a room. For this reason, the plasma television is a better TV Superbowl.
Plasma course have some disadvantages. First, can suffer from "burn-in, which is where a television area" burn-in "if there is a constant image on the screen. This is fundamentally a problem is the TV is mainly used for video games or monitor. In this case we assume the TV will be used mostly for sport, so no problem. Also, If you allow your TV to display a variety of programming for the first 12-14 hours of use, this reduces significantly the possibility that the growing number of developing burn-in
Plasmas are a little heavier, if you're looking to hang your TV on the wall, I make sure to screw the mount on the wall stud, but then I'd recommend it for an LCD as well.
Power on the positive side, the plasma also tend to be cheaper, especially as in the larger sizes, since we are talking about big screens here - which is a definite advantage. Typically, plasma is not any smaller than about 42 "but again we are talking big screens, so - no problem.
Other considerations:
Find a 1080p resolution. Most new games are 1080p, so I should not difficult for you to find one. On the screens become larger, the difference between a 720p and 1080p TV becomes more evident. Since we are talking about big, sure to get a whole 1080. Also can see the resolutions of 1080i, but have the same number of pixels or as a 1080p, which are updated approximately half of the time, this can lead to a flickering perceptible. The price difference is smaller, so you get a 1080p.
New 120Hz plasmas. Movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps), while the television programming is usually 30 fps, since 120 is a multiple of two, remove a bit of trepidation that can occur when watching movies. As we speaking of sports, you will not get much benefit from 120Hz. If you are planning to watch movies, plus sports, or maybe the movies about football, you may want to pay more for this, but plasmas do not suffer from motion blur as well as screens and LCD 120Hz helps better performance over plasma screens.
Begin your search for a plasma screen, Panasonic, in my opinion they reach the optimal point between price and quality. You'll value for their money, and make some of the best plasma screens available. If money is no problem, and want the best possible TV Superbowl, I recommend the Pioneer Elite Kuro TV comes in 50 "and 60" and experts what most consider the best video image in the marketplace, and an excellent speaker system.

ReviewsNice picture, noisy and unreliable by slammy from Atlanta, GA on 2010-09-05 Upgraded to the 1080P HC3800 from a Mitsubishi HC1500 720P projector. Much better blacks. The higher resolution was not as noticeable an improvement as I expected, but nice. Overall a good picture for the money. My gripe is the fact than the unit I received is noisy, with both fan clicking and color wheel whine. Sounds like a mosquito in your ear. Sent it in for repair( at my expense!) and despite specific instructions they only fixed the noisy fan. So I still have the color wheel whine. As a bonus I have two dust blobs now since the repair. I also had to send in my HC1500. So until Mitsubishi improves its quality control, I cannot recommend their projectors. I will give Mitsubishi credit, their service department is courteous and prompt.
Mitsubishi HC3800 1080p Home Theater DLP Projector by D. Ferguson from New Mexico USA on 2010-08-14 Having owned the HD1000U & HC1500 this projector was a natural upgrade, have owned since mid March with no problems, if you haven't jumped to 1080p yet do it!
Wow - Great Picture! by Donald Peven from Detroit, MI USA on 2010-08-11 Bought this as a projection TV/DVD/X-box display device, to replace my 5 year old Sharp LCD projector that had developed a yellow spot in the center of the beam. Between the ability to use HDMI and the 1080p capability, this is a great improvement for a very reasonable price.
Good Projector, 3D Ready by John S. Hodson from on 2010-07-28 This a good alternative to a large screen TV if you have the area and patience to set up a projector. Does anyone know if it is 3D ready like the recent Mitsubishi HDTVs?
I'm a Projector Newbie, so, easily impressed - but I LOVE it! by Mike Scher from Barcelona, Spain on 2010-06-01 I received my Mitsubishi HC3800 projector approximately one month ago. I hung it from the ceiling as soon as possible and have been blown away by the results ever since. I have to admit that I upgraded from an tube TV, so I am easily impressed. I was originally going to get a plasma tv, but after some research it became obvious that for my intended use (watching movies in a dark room), a projector was the way to go. I looked at all of the reviews and settled on this projector. I know I could have gotten blacker blacks and other advantages, but not at this price. I also got the projector during the bulb rebate offer which brings the price even lower. So, pound for pound, I considered this projector to be the best bang for the buck.I have not been disappointed and neither has anyone who has seen it. I also have not seen ANY of the problems which some of the other commenter's have mentioned. The only small complaint that I have is that the projector is mounted directly above our heads and there is a noticeable noise (which I assume is fan noise) when there is little or no sound from whatever we are watching.I got the projector from Electonics Expo via Amazon and the service was as it should be - brand new unopened item delivered on time with no problems/hidden charges.I pride myself in being a cheap-skate and am proud of the fact that I saved a fortune on cables and the mounting bracket by shopping very carefully.

ReviewsGreat Value! by GrahamGannon&Company, llc. from Chicago, IL on 2010-08-27 You simply can't beat the performance for the price. Great everyday projector for the Kids or home use! While it might lack just slightly from the performance especially in bright conditions that "DLP" or High end LCD ($[...] or more in cost)units may deliver. The up front savings as well as the low, low replacement cost of the bulbs (about $[...]
bucks in stead of the HUNDREDS a DLP replacement bulb will cost)makes it a really great choice!

ReviewsLove it. by Tushar Tyagi from USA on 2010-05-27 This box rocks. Having a great time watching movies on the big screen at home. No need to talk in inches anymore, talk in feet now. I don't have anything to play 1080p yet but even 720p is simply awesome. The adjustable lens assembly is another great feature to be able to keep it in a corner of the room. Its a bit bulky though.
Watch for HDMI compatibility issues!! by Thomas Runge from on 2010-02-26 Well, I upgraded from a Panasonix AX200U, a 720p projector. The setup was no problem, even though the wheels to shift the picture can not be easily adjusted - the vertical one needed to be set just a little bit to the right in my set up and automatically jumped back to the middle position. Pretty poor design, but I finally got it as needed. The picture is great, but I honestly can not see a huge difference to the 720p Panasonix projector. It is bright enough to get a decent picture during the day, the blacks though looked a bit washed out, actually worse than on the 720 projector. The reason for the bad rating though is that the picture through the HDMI signal could not be displayed. I have a 1.5 years old Pioneer VSX-1017 TXV 7.1 receiver which (supposedly) support HDMI 1.3. All I got on the projector though was that the signal was not allowed to be displayed on the projector. What a crap!! I called the Epson hotline (even though India based, it was pretty good) and the response was "We know that there are compatibility issues with some projectors. Bad luck." Nothing in regards to if/when/how this would be fixed, no excuse for selling such a piece of junk. As a workaround I hooked it up to a switch vs. using the receiver, but that is not going to be the long term solution. This thing goes back.I still do recommend buying this projector - nut check if it will work with your receiver.Edit: I realized ít is not really Epson's fault, but Pioneer sells "1080p" receivers that do not allow 1080p passthrough and because of that and the idiotic copy protection mechanisms, will not work with this projector. I bought a HDMI switch and now everythings seems fine. Picture quality is good.
Great projector by W. D. Brodie from New York, NY on 2010-02-09 With no adjustments, this projector throws beautiful 8' wide images onto my blank white wall. I set it up on an elevated shelf and have had no problems with it. Adjusting image size, position, and focus were easy and I haven't touched it since. Colors are vivid and sharp, especially with Blu-ray disks. Other than a little more contrast and some loss of tonal subtlety, it's like being in a movie theater. This is also one of the most flexible projectors in zoom range and ability to move the picture horizontally or vertically away from center -- check the specs, especially if you need the positioning flexibility; some projectors constrain you to a much smaller range.
Great projector at a good price. by John J. Celardo from on 2009-10-01 I have about a month of experience with the Epson 6100, and I'm thrilled. It replaces an Infocus 4805 that is about five years old. The 4805 has 2800 hours on the lamp, and the light tunnel is faulty causing a yellow smear down the left side of the screen. I had a few bucks set aside for a new projector, and between the great reviews I read, the long lamp life, and the $100 and spare lamp rebate, I pulled the trigger.I opted for free shipping, and thank you Amazon, I got delivery in three days. The first impression was how huge this thing is. It's twice the size of the 4805. In fact, it's about as big as my Pioneer Elite receiver. It didn't fit in the tight little space next to the couch the old projector occupied. I knew I'd need a ceiling mount, but for the time being I jury rigged a platform. My only high resolution source is a Fios HD box. The HD image looked good through the 480P Infocus, but I was blown away by the bright, sharp, colorful image the 6100 produced right out of the box. I'm using analog component cables for now. Sports like baseball, football and the U.S. Open tennis are spectacular. Movies on standard definition DVDs are exceptional. I have a Marantz DV 6400 multi-player which is a very nice machine. I can't wait to see what Blu-ray looks like through the 6100.I got the Vantage Point ceiling mount which makes a big difference. The mount has a six inch extension that works well on my sloped Cape Cod ceiling. It's a solidly built mount the supports this big guy very well. The 6100 has great placement flexibility with it's up and down, and right to left lens shift. The image fills my 72" wide screen from about ten feet, and can go much bigger. I changed the settings to those recommended by one of the reviews I read, which cut down the brightness a bit, and warmed the colors. This is a very impressive machine for a reasonable price. With the spare lamp, I hope to have it well into my golden years. If I could give it ten stars I would.
Great projector for the price by B. Nelson from Lansing, MI USA on 2009-09-15 This projector works great right out of the box. Once it was mounted and connected, I just set the focus and size and it's been fine - no problems.

Great projector! by Left Blank from New York on 2009-01-21 I have owned several projectors (DLP, LCD, LCOS) and I have to say this projector is a tremendous value. Picture has great blacks, depth, saturation, and very sharp image. Color is very good out of the box, but will improve even more with calibration. One of the very best values on the market. Pixel adjustment feature is great to make certain the 3 panels have the best alignment. Ordered from Amazon and had prompt delivery. One of the best video purchases I have made.

ReviewsGreat picture and runs well by gyrotechnix from on 2010-07-15 My wife bought this as an anniversary gift. Although it is a no name product, it works very well. The picture looks great. I attached my laptop and used the HDMI port. There are a few issues getting the resolution set. But once I got it set, Avatar looked great at 46 inches. (The screen was only that wide.) All-in-all, I am very happy with the projector.
Incredible Upgrade! by C. Nahm from on 2010-03-19 We actually upgraded to this new unit and couldn't be happier. It offers a much larger image that is even brighter and more clear! Thanks GrahamGannon we couldn't be happier!

ReviewsAWESOME FOR THE PRICE!!!! by J. T. Rogers from Baltimore. MD, USA on 2010-02-23 I bought this as a present for me....ok and for my family too....hehe but i tell you, i bought this PJ at 6th ave electronics thru amazon for only $1071 with free shipping and no tax!!!!! Cheap considering when i bought it last Dec '09 it cost $2500 on most sites, cheapest i found was $1800....so i think i got a great deal...anyway, this projector is not the best but it has auto iris to help the blacks on screen lokk almost black, the motorized zoom and vertical only shift is also motorized as well as sharpness. The picture is pretty great acutally, very sharp and bright. You do need a dark room where light has to be very minimal or no light at all. Even on regular dvds, the picture looks amazing... the only thing is the placement of the projector has to be pretty much straight on because of the 1.2X zoom and lack of horizontal shift option. Overall, i am very happy with it. i project on to a 125" elite spectrum screen at about 15 ft. Very nice though, i'm very happy with this PJ. Go get one if you're on a budget and can get it for what i paid for....keep looking..God bless!
Fantastic - well worth the money by B. Vyas from San Francisco, CA on 2009-12-12 The reviewer is correct about bright rooms - I have this projector mounted to the ceiling, in a loft apartment, large windows and lots of sun mean that day-light viewing is pretty limited. But, bring on the evening and watching the 5500 with a 96" image size is an amazing event. All HD sources at this size look fantastic: Wii (480i), PS3, Dish, over-the-air HD and Blue-ray, even up-converted DVD's screen well. During operation, the ambient noise generated by the cooling fan is barely audible, and it's cool-down cycle is short and quiet. The throw range of the projector is limited, so you do have to watch where you place it, but I recommend this product strongly and would definitely buy it again.
Just buy it already by billbradlyjr from va,usa on 2009-11-08 Great projector. Price is right and picture is great. Haven't even seen 1080p on it because i have an older xbox with no HDMI. That sucks but the picture is awesome even at 1080i. I've only noticed motion blur once while watching speed racer but that movie was crappy anyway. Just buy it. You know you want. It is super quiet and bulb life is extra long.
Great 1080p Projector! by Eric Hoell from Atlanta, GA USA on 2009-08-17 We purchased this projector a few months ago, and still are amazed by the picture quality. We use it in a semi-dark environment, and even with the ambient light the picture looks great! The projector is very quiet - I have to listen to ever hear it. The projector does throw a log of heat. So keep the room ventilated. Great projector. Very happy with our purchase!
Good for dark rooms by psharma from tampa fl on 2009-06-10 I would rate this projector 4 or above if I want to use it only in dark room. If you have reasonable ambient light in room then forget about any night scene. May be this was with my unit only so I returned. Good service from Amazon no hard time in returning.

ReviewsAwesome 125" Screen by Ramses L. Rodriguez from US on 2009-12-16 Amazing video quality, I've got it at 125" diagonally on my wall with no projector screen and it still looks perfect. Watching movies and playing games from my ps3 and computer is just exilerating on this beautiful projection. The 75,000:1 contrast ratio is definitely one of the highlights of this machine. This is better than most LCD Tvs and you can have a 300" Tv depending on the distance and zoom. Love this thing!
Spectacular by Derreckla from Orangevale Ca. on 2009-04-27 One word:
SPECTACULARI wanted to write a review because I remember there were none on Amazon when I wanted to purchase this projector and I always find the customer reviews helpful. I bought this about a month ago and have been thoroughly impressed. It has better image quality then my Mitsubishi DLP. If you can Go for it you will not be let down!
Does the basics right !! by K. Desai from PA on 2009-03-24 I liked the features on PT-ae3000u much more, so I will give this projector 4 stars. However, I am completely impressed with the image quality. It has the image that made me go 'wow'. I cannot compare the image quality with other projectors and I cannot comment on how long the good image quality will last. I also cannot comment on bluray video quality because I have only played wii on this so far.
But I am impressed nonetheless !
